My son recently had a 24 hour visit at the academy and was truly impressed. He said he got along very well with the cadre and all the other cadets he met. His cadre told him he was going to rank him very high on his interview. My questions is how much does this interview is part of the overall factor of getting an appointment?

He will have the early admit application turned in soon and is going to request a interview through his admissions officer with someone in our part of the country. Thank you for your help.

It is certainly not the deciding factor, but it helps. Everything "adds up" when conducting a holistic evaluation of the candidate. :thumb:

Do kids who have gone to AIM usually get invited for the "Cadet for a Day" program? When my son went to AIM, they didn't do any interview or personal one on one with the cadre that he remembers. He thought he did really well and loved it, but still no LOA :frown: Also, are the kids ranked according to what session of AIM they were put into? ex.
AIM Session 1-top picks
AIM Session 2-mid picks
AIM Session 3-possibilites

Thanks, -officer

I wouldn't really worry about the LOA...they didn't do them last year and we were all fine :) It sounds like your son is a strong candidate...I am surprised that his cadre did not do one on one interviews with him. I remember doing that when I was at AIM and they stuck all of us in a room and then came and got us one by one by division...kind of nerve-wracking as we didn't really know what was going on  And no, I don't think that people are ranked by what session they were in. For one, I remember having to request what session was best for me to attend. For two, I know people who were in session one who did not get in versus people who attended session three and were accepted.
