YOUR DOGS, CATS & Other Domestic Fauna - Cute, sad, buff or silly

Our daughter's fiance surprised her last Friday. Their date night turned out to be the best date ever! They brought home my 2nd granddog. SAF, meet Honey. She is a 9 week old red doberman. Cheddar was pleased to meet her on Friday night. Needless to say, when he awoke to see her still there on Saturday morning, I heard he looked a bit pertrubed. Since then, Honey has had her grandma visit (that's me) and she has become Cheddar's new best friend. She found her voice and is now barking back at him when he wants to play. I love her already. She reminds me of a newborn giraffe or fawn. She hasn't figured out yet how to use her super long legs.

Ooh AND Aah! Pretty.

They are going to keep them uncropped. The process to get them 'clipped' is month's long and to me, sounds awful for the dog. Her ears are like the softest velvet.

Many, many years ago, when I worked for a vet, I assisted with a few ear "croppings". Not a pleasant process and easily messed up.
Kudos to you for leaving them natural.

The dobie I had about 20 years ago had cropped ears. They were never right since the vet did make a mess out of them.

This isn't my dog (wish it were) but thought it would bring some smiles. Pure unadulterated joy is what he is displaying. I love it!happy boxer, dancing in the rain
Of course I loved this one. All of our boxers love play-attacking sprinkler heads, letting the spray hit their jowls, and getting thoroughly soaked. One of our boxers loves to go out in the rain and catch the stream off the roof, warm weather only.
Thank you!

Boxer R in favorite nap position right now. I wish you could hear the sound track.

The rocket scientists of dog breeds - the border collie !! Ultimate herder, he constantly finds the spot in the house where he can keep those beady little eyes on all of us. Kona is attentive and always looking for a job. Gets frustrated when the kids leave the house because he loses sight of those sheep. Best dog on the planet!

We had a Rottweiler (Rex) 20 yrs ago when the kids were small. He was found by a family friend wandering thru neighborhoods so we adopted him.
He was the best with the boys. When they were outside, if he wasn't playing with them he was laying where he could see both of them. We have a picture someplace if the boys piling leaves on top of him as he just laid there.
Good dog. If you had a tennis ball to play fetch, you were his friend.

Surely the animal members of your family have done something interesting or cute or funny since the last post? Or if they are on the other side of the rainbow bridge, we are happy to reminisce with you.

The boxers Rupert (red brindle) and Mandy (seal brindle) have given me permission to use their names here on SAF. What they are doing right now as I work, after having had an early morning walk on a crisp fall day, a good breakfast, a dog biscuit each and a drink of cool water from a clean bowl:

Looks like a good nap. What happened to Rupert's paw?
Excision of a lump on his outer toe. Not malignant, thankfully. Always a worry with boxers and mast cell tumors. We’ve been very fortunate with our boxers, all living to 13-14, except for one who left us at 10. No health issues except old age and an external mast tumor here or there.

I really wanted to answer “bar fight.”

Awe, well hope he is back and at 100% in no time. I would likely have gone with your bar fight story. I wouldn't want to go in the ring against a boxer! (see what I did there?)

This is our new pup. This pic is from last week at 4 weeks old when we did our litter picks. We will be bringing her home at 10 weeks. We also have another male pup reserved from a different litter that is due in two weeks, so in about three months we will have them both home.

Awww. They're so sweet to look at. However, human babies are easier. They're not as mobile and wear diapers. It was 3 months of hell before we got our pup house trained.

EDIT: Still love her to death though!
