Current USMAPS Prepster- Ask Anything

Great to see you posting. I hope all is well (relative) and you are enjoying USMAPS! You are almost halfway there. Great job so far!

Were you recruited. What were your stats. Do you love it?
I am not recruited.

I have a 28 ACT Superscore with a 9 essay score. I had a 4.0 GPA in Highschool while in dual enrollment(My high school was not ranked good), 6-7 different sports, 500+ community service hours, many leadership positions, etc..

I do enjoy it! It is more like high school then I would have liked. I wanted a more mature environment, but not everyone has developed to that level yet and that is one reason why USMAPS is a great time to be able to develop yourself. I am on the Sandhurst team at USMAPS and I LOVE IT!!!! I also earned the position of Battalion XO for the 1st semester here, which is a challenge but a great learning experience too. Academics has been a tough battle, but the faculty is so investing on seeing you develop and succeed!

I will say all the COVID regulations suck for this year and the activity limitations. But, I am still enjoying my time here. I have a Firstie mentor from down the Hill, and that is super exciting as well! Lots of great people and great opportunities, even with all the restrictions.

PM me with any other questions:)

Did you receive a call from your RC explaining what USMAPS was and asking if you’d be interested? I recently received a call like that and am wondering if it carries weight.

Your stats look pretty impressive. What do you think was lacking in your application that you didn't get offer an appointment to USMA right away?

Yes, and other people called me as well. Still with that, I did not think I was going to get it.
Depending on what you said, it can. They will not fight for you if you were not wanting prep, or not confident if you would go if offered.

At what point (4th month?) did you take Physics and Calculus? Thanks.
Depending on your incoming math level, puts you in what math class. There is PCAT(Precal, Algebra, Trig), PIC(Precal w/ intro to trig), and Calculus. Throughout the year you may switch around classes depending on your grades. There is also a opportunity to take math down the hill at USMA if you are that smart! Placement tests are taken at the end of CCBT. Physics is the 4th Quarter.... and it is kicking my butt right now! But, this is my first time ever taking Physics.
