@tweety_bird Of course for Harris you could send an e-mail here: Nominations_Harris@harris.senate.gov

I expect Feinstein has a similar contact point on her web site.
I couldn't find one on Feinstein's website or the packet, only a phone number (nobody answered any of my many calls or returned my voicemails). Also I was instructed by a staffer after calling Harris' office to email Sean_Ansted@harris.senate.gov He runs the entire nomination process for her office, and was super helpful whenever I emailed him.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but do the CA senators hold interviews for candidates before they determine nominations, or do they nominate based off of paperwork?

I can't seem to find that information on their websites, and seem to recall hearing that they do not give interviews because it is such a big state.

Thank you!
I cannot get any contact with Feintstein's office, they have a phone number that nobody answers (I called over a dozen times across several days).
Information directly from Harris' office, I would assume it would be similar to Feinstein's:

.... As for interviews, notifications on whether or not those receiving an interview should be sent out in early December (for those selected, interviews are on Sat, Dec 19).

DS got notified today interview with congressional staff (WA state, 2nd dist.) will be 1st week in Dec. Neither senator will be conducting interviews! Application review only.
I'm from Washington state, where/when did you hear that neither senator is conducting interviews? Also, do you by chance know how competitive each district is? I'm trying to estimate my chances... :eek3:

Has anyone heard from their Washington State Congress member regarding noms yet?? Also, how can you find out how many spots a Congress member has available at each academy?
I'm from WA08 and heard back from Congresswoman Schrier this week that they had received my application and are reviewing all applications this week. Applications were due Oct. 30th and interviews will likely be early December. I'm not sure if they publish how many spots a Congress member has at each academy, it'd be best to assume that they only have one and to try your best to get that spot.

The goal is to “win the slate,” yes, to get a nom and be offered the appointment, if fully qualified, that will be charged to that elected official, but the other applicants getting on the slate itself with a nom allows for the SA to choose additional appointees from that group following the rules for that additional nominating authority. Refer to the Sticky at the top of the Nominations forum. Good info for new readers.

DS traded emails with staffs. Said that was the plan. Of course, that could change.

No idea how competitive each district is, but odds say the more people in the district, the more potential candidates, the more competitive.

The first clause isn't true while the remaining clauses, and the sentiment expressed, are true. Each Congressional District (ignoring States) has about the same number of people. It's really how many potential candidates that is the key. Of course at the State/Senatorial Level, population size, which varies, is a critical factor. I'm probably being a little nit-picker here, but...

We actually heard back from congresswoman Schrier's office as well. They do only have one spot available this year.

Hello everyone, I was wondering when Senator Durbin, Senator Ducksworth and all Illinois Representatives will begin nominating people...

*I recognize the current pandemic may change these normal nomination dates*

Thank you!

They have until 1/31 to submit their slates. It was an election year, with Durbin and all the House members up for re-election. Then there’s the pandemic. So in the grand scheme of things, noms are important but not as important — or as urgent — as the other issues. Rest easy: They’ll get to it.

In all probability, the nomination process has been running along with little to no impact from the election, I know that is the case in the areas where I've participated in the process. Locally to me, our district had a very contentious election with huge amounts of spending and the MOC actually in quarantine for the final couple of weeks of the campaign but the nomination process went along in parallel (as it should) and I just received a binder full of candidate info to review prior to upcoming interviews. I've seen our senatorial processes work the same way through several changes of incumbent and elections.

My Senators and Representative interviews are done. I have had 4 interviews in the last 2 weeks (including BGO). They were quick- only 15 minutes (there was a "timer")- except for the BGO which was about an our. They say they will let me know something by beginning of December. I interviewed with my ALO and Evaluator for USAFA back in August; I interviewed with USCGA back in September. It's surreal to think I have no more interviews pending.

The applications were due Nov 1, but DS got his in around October 15th, and we haven't' even heard if it was received. It was a paper only application.

Is anybody from Oregon? And if so which district? It seems that my state is fairly uncommon, in terms of SA applicants
