Multiple MOC’s nominations

I am currently finishing my application to USAFA and was interested on how multiple nominations affects you’re application process. I currently have both my senator nominations and my congresswomen nomination. Any advice (or assistance) would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Having multiple nominations boosts your chances of admission because it gives the Academy more places to "cash" your appointment. Your goal is to be number 1 on the nomination list that your MOC or senator sends to the Academy, and the more nominations you have, the more lists you are competing on. For example, lets pretend you have a freak of nature that lives down the road. That person will take the MOC's slot as USAFA. Now if you had only received their nomination, you would go into the national pool (national waitlist) and compete with all of the other students who were numbers 2-10 on the nomination lists. However, if you also have a nomination from your senator, you could still be the number one person on their list and get the appointment. It's super hard to explain over the internet, but I hope this made sense. By the way, if I am wrong please let me know

Congrats! I am in the same position with my nominations, and have done some research in old threads. It appears that multiple nominations does not add to the WCS, rather it gives admissions more flexibility on which nomination slate to charge you. Again, that is just what I have gleaned from these forums.

I also have multiple Nominations. One from each of my Senators. It just gives more chances to an Appointment.

Is it likely that most Senatorial nominees also have a MOC nomination, assuming they are not coordinating at that level? If they are competitive enough to be top 10 in their state for each available slot, then I would think they would likely be top 10 for each available slot in their MOC district. Just curious. Thanks for input.

I suspect that you are right. In my state, that’s exactly what happened.

I think this is a very reasonable assumption (even though each nomination source might have different criteria). Those who get a senatorial nomination "compete" on the same slot with other top candidates in their state, and it makes sense they will be given an opportunity to get a nomination through their local nomination source.
