I just tested positive for COVID, how do I submit this to DODMERB? Will my test result in a DQ? Does it hurt my admission chances?

Google DoDMERB. Look down the left side of the homepage and click on the COVID info tab. There is a form you must fill out and submit. Good that you have time to deal with the qualification or recertification process. Feel better soon!!!!

I feel fine for the time being, I'm just concerned it will reduce the timeframe/ chances of admission. Thank you for the comment though!

RJB1690 is 100% correct. DQs have only occurred AFTER the 10 day isolation and 28 days post for folks that have had complications. Once cleared AFTER that time by your personal physician, then all have been qualified:wiggle:

All the better! So just get your positive test reported to DoDMERB and then focus on quarantining and self-care so that you stay feeling fine. I’m a mom so I can’t help myself - please rest and hydrate.

What are the steps an applicant in this scenario should take: DoDMERB exams and COVID-19 questionnaire completed in August 2020 with no issues and no positive tests of COVID-19. However, applicant tested positive for COVID-19 in early January and then tested negative 8 days later. Applicant does not know whether to report this to DoDMERB or not as everything was completed months before.

DoDMERB website says if you have not already arrived at your service academy, you must report and be recertified.

Applicant Actions Following A Positive Test For COVID-19
IF YOU “HAVE NOT” ALREADY CONTRACTED FOR YOUR ROTC SCHOLARSHIP, COMMISSIONED, OR ARRIVED AT THE ACADEMY YOU WERE APPOINTED TO:
 DoDMERB is responsible for all Medical actions.
DoDMERB Process For Certification/Recertification for a Positive COVID-19 Test:
1. You must submit a completed COVID-19 Questionnaire to DoDMERB via the helpdesk e-mail address. COVID-19 Questionnaire URL Link: https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil/Docs/COVID19Questionnaire.pdf Helpdesk Email: usaf.usafa.dodmerb.mbx.helpdesk@mail.mil
2. The completed questionnaire will be reviewed by a DoDMERB Physician. Potential Outcomes from the Physician’s review:
a. Request for the records from the positive test and any follow-ups.
b. Request for a Private Physician evaluation, with emphasis on cardiopulmonary status. c. Further specialist evaluations, if indicated.
d. Qualification/re-certification or disqualification by DoDMERB.
3. Current DOD guidance stipulates applicants who have been infected with COVID-19 can be qualified (or re- certified) no earlier than 28 days after completing any recommended home isolation. This will be roughly 38 days for most applicants, from the time their symptoms began or they tested positive.
4. Applicants who test positive for COVID-19 but remain asymptomatic, must nonetheless follow the steps above and are subject to the same timeline.
5. Applicants who have been identified as contacts of an infected person and then screened and/or completed any recommended quarantine, DO NOT need to notify DoDMERB if they did not test positive for COVID- 19 and did not develop illness through the course of their quarantine.

So if an applicant had a positive Covid test with mild symptoms, what is the process after submitting the Covid form? If the Covid form was just today for Covid in Feb, is the form all that is needed? If there are additional steps, will there be time to accomplish them?

The applicant should report their positive test to DoDMERB immediately and will receive instructions then

Some additional words of experience; if time is of the essence, you will want to stay on top of the process after submitting the evaluation from the private physician. My son is needing a single condition waiver for USMC PLC and that process could not be started until the COVID eval was processed. After sending it in, he was advised to check his status over the next 15 business days only to find out, after emails back and forth with his representative, that the form didn't ever submit for reasons unknown but evidently happens from time to time. He essentially lost 3-4 weeks that could have been put towards the actual waiver process, which was the single outstanding item remaining for him, and missed the April boards. He will now have to wait until November and, if accepted, do a single 10 week session next summer at Quantico rather than the two six week sessions that he would have preferred. I'm not blaming this on any person but it's a bummer that a system sometimes doesn't work correctly and evidently doesn't give any indication that it didn't work.
