History of Hypertension

Hello, I recently received an AROTC scholarship and requested my medical records for detailed information on an emergency room visit and past surgery. Within my medical record is an "active problem list" listing hypertension as an active problem. This is the result of a past physical where my blood pressure measured at 150/90. Obviously, this is very high and is medically disqualifying, but I don't believe this is currently an issue as I have a home blood pressure meter and continually measure at around 125/75. I plan on making an appointment to have my blood pressure measured just so that it is in my record, but my question is: how much of an issue will this be assuming my blood pressure is normal at my DoDMERB physical? Thank you.

As a health information / electronic health record expert - in my opinion this is one of many banes of these systems- active problem lists that do not get updated or resolved by the responsible healthcare providers (it's a system usability issue as well- not all fault lies on the providers).

I wish you the best getting this resolved and having your current state accurately reflected in your health care record. I have no doubt that Mr. Mullen will be very insightful in your plight.

03USMC13 = You are correct and Hypertension is not a "history of" issue :yikes:

NO! I provided you instructions on what to do above. I'm NOT stating on a public website what your personal situation is.

Im sorry for how I asked that, I completely understand that you can not judge individual situations here. I am just confused about what you mean by "hypertension is not a 'history of' issue". I should have phrased that outside the context of my personal situation.

It will be in my response to your email later on tonight :wiggle:
