Falcon Foundation Appointments

Congratulations!!🥳🥳 I also received one this morning.
Congratulations @Zoe101!!

This is the time of year last year's Falcon scholars tend to receive their appointment offers. Several on here are waiting to hear news and hoping it comes in the next few days. I suspect you'll be doing the same thing next year.

Thank you so much!! I am truly honored for this opportunity!

My DD received her offer for a Falcon Scholarship this morning, as well. This is not something we expected. Lot's of research to do. Thank you all for the knowledge already shared.

If I don't here anything about a Falcon Scholarship, but an a qualified candidate, am i still in the running for an appointment?

You never know, you could be out already, you could be set up to get an appointment, or somewhere in between. That's why there are so many threads about waiting on this forum. People are ready to know what they need to get in next year if they aren't in this year.

If i was out already, wouldn't they have sent me a notice? The waiting game is so frustrating!

It's still early, many appointment offers come out after the first week or so of March, with the bulk sent between then and mid-April. My DS received his Falcon Scholarship offer on May 9th last year after news of a bulk drop of TWEs on April 20th. This is our 3rd year doing this and the waiting definitely is the hardest part. Hang in there!

DS received a call from our Senator's office a little over half an hour ago.... He is officially part of USAFA 2025!
Outstanding!!! Definitely well deserved. His perseverance paid off and he's on his way. Still hoping we hear soon and he can't wait to wear his Hawaiian shirt on June 24th with his fellow prepsters. 1614380984223.jpeg

Congrats @zoesmith !!

Welcome to the Golden Ticket club! Next step is to choose a prep school. Several on here have attended NWP, it is highly recommended, many Falcons attend there.
I'm really liking NWP so far! Definitely need to do more research on it, and thank you for sharing your insight, everyone!

If you don't mind sharing, could I get your "profile" in terms of stats? I'm curious about what they are looking for.

No problem at all!
Stats:
4.44 USAFA recalculated GPA
1230 SAT (wasn't able to retake, and I think it's why I didn't get a nomination)

Academic Rigor:
4.0 in 9th and 10th grade (no AP's or honors since my school didn't offer them)
Dual Enrollment in 11th and 12th grade (all a's except for 2 college math classes which I got high B's on)
A's in 3 years of high-level Russian (nearly fluent)

Extracurriculars:
400+ volunteer hours at an animal shelter
Summer camp counselor, Summer camp mentor, taught classes to kids, and trained adults in animal care at the shelter
Internship in 10th grade that I created for myself and another student (still available for future students)
Junior Class Vice President
ALA CA Girls State
Commissioner of Service (Studnet Council)
President of Club at school
Varsity Women's basketball in 9th and 10th grade
Etc.

My USAFA interview went super well, and we talked for over 2 hours. I'm pretty confident he wrote me a good recommendation, which really helped me. I also maxed out the option recommendations on the USAFA portal.
I'll be more than happy to give you my full academic breakdown and essay topics if needed! :)

That's good enough for me to know it's going to be tight for me to get into anything this year! It's cool to hear other people's stats though. Thanks for sharing! (When you say USAFA recalculated GPA, is that what shows up in your portal?)

Congrats on your golden ticket!!
Curious, did you have any athletics or did you crush the CFA?

It showed up on my portal about a week after my transcripts were submitted. I’m guessing my dual enrollment classes played into it.

Congrats on your golden ticket!!

I did Varsity Women’s basketball in 9th and 10th grade and then transferred schools where no organized sports were offered (but I took basketball classes, weightlifting, cardio, etc). My CFA scores were pretty average from what I know. Basketball throw was 42, 2 pull-ups, 9.8 shuttle run, 79 modified sit-ups, 43 push-ups, and a 7:12 mile time. Hope that helped!
