Congratulations to both of your mids! Hopefully I'll be able to do the same one day!

I second that...if I do go to the Naval Academy, I'm going it all out going for SEAL as first choice and Marines as second. But first, I need to work on my swimming.

Five out of five sponsor mids got 1st choice: 4 Navy air, 1 EOD. Their "significant others" also got their first choices in a variety of warfare communities. I haven't seen the stats yet on what per cent got first choice.

I wanted to know how high up in the class was the individuals that recieved pilot slots! lol. looking for the future....

You don't have to be top dog to get pilot. I know people near the comma club that got it my year.

Where can I find the percentage who got first choice (or second)? I have an appointment to two SA right now trying to make a decision. USNA has the most diverse options available which is good on one hand and not good if you don't want a few of them. Trying to find odds that I would get my choice at USNA. If I think I can then I am there!! Would admissions have that information?

I don't know that the info is out for the class of 2010. I believe that 90% of the class of 2009 got their first or second choice.

Also, please realize that what happened this year isn't necessarily relevant in terms of what will happen 4 yrs from now. The higher in the class you stand, the more likely you are to get your first choice. Your odds may also depend on what your first choice is (which community) and how many slots are open in that community in your year. Finally, today the choice is more "mutual" than it was in my day -- thus, if you want to be a SEAL, the SEALs must agree to take you. This is true of most (if not all) communities.

Regardless of which SA you select or even if you go ROTC, you're in the military and the "needs of the military" always come first. You can do everything right and the military (USN or otherwise) can decide what happens to you, which may or may not be what you want. Welcome to the military!
