Last year, KBH notified 5 of receiving nomination right away. Then checked around with Congressmen (at least those who would reply!) And did not issue the other 5 noms til late January. This was for USNA. Son got a reject letter from Cornyn about Dec 6 or so. Our Congressman sent letter about Dec 18 and the nom appeared on his candidate profile on Christmas Day. KBH called him Jan 20 to tell him he was getting nom, left message. When he called back, they told him they had just received word he was going to be receiving appt. Blue folder made it to west Texas Feb 1. Once those noms are in to the academies (deadline Jan 31), things start happening fast. Of course, Feb 1 seems like light years away right now! I remember......

I know this is hard to read, but it could take weeks before you hear anything about noms. DS found about one of his MOC noms on line through his app. in Dec, the letter came in Feb. For 3 months we waited hoping that it wasn't a mistake. The second MOC sent a letter in Dec., 2 months after they closed the files. The 3rd sent a letter in Dec., scheduling their interviews for Jan. The nom letter came 2 weeks later.
The point is if you sit by the phone or be Snoopy and stare at the mailbox, you will go insane. This is just round one in the waiting room. Once you get the nom., you might sit in the next waiting room (appointment) until March.
Not meaning to be the downer, just trying to make you realize that this process for the majority will be a hurry up and wait situation...Do the PCQ asap and wait until June for an answer; get the Dodmerb, then wait for being Q; complete the file in Sept and wait for boards in Oct for an LOA; hurry up and get the nom, then wait for the appointment; hurry up and get the appointment, then wait for I-DAY...etc...etc...etc.

2 years ago my son received a phone call from Cornyn's office Thanksgiving week....we were in Singapore and the phone call woke us up. Don't know if they called instead mailed a letter due to our location.

I missed a phone call from a Karen Nicholson on the 24th, at about 6 PM Central Time. She said she was from Senator Cornyn's office, and that she wanted to talk with me for a minute. Gave me a cell number too.
Left a few messages, one on the cell and one at the Senator's office, but so far, no response. Probably because of Thanksgiving, but I guess we'll see.

My son just received a call from Senator Cornyn's office notifying him of his nomination to USNA. Stated that they would notify the Academy and followup with a letter. Tears of joy at our house tonight as he has an LOA contingent only upon a nomination!
