Hello there

Since the 2021 NSI details have been released, I am posting this to ask if anyone has received the dates that they are going to New Student Indoctrination. Does anyone know how we receive the dates that we will go? I am very much excited for this opportunity!!

Probably an email, either from NSTC directly, your new unit, or both. If you feel like they're not giving you enough information/cutting it close, welcome to the Navy

Also feel free to ask any questions about NSI, I'm one of the few MIDN who has actually gone (and made it back in one piece!)

Thank you!

I do have a few questions:
1) is there any “required knowledge” that we should know heading into NSI?

2) what is your biggest piece of advice or any tips that helped you?

3) can you describe a typical day, or the day that stood out the most to you?

I have done research and watched some videos, but a first hand account would be great!

1.) Not really, but ranks/general orders of the sentry might be helpful. On the other hand, you're going to spend a lot of time reading gouge anyways so it's probably not necessary.

2.) Be prepared to be tired and bored. Don't be surprised if there are days where the majority of it is spent waiting in formations. Also, have a thick skin. You're going to mess up and get yelled at because of it, you can't let that stuff get to you.

3.) Typical day 3 meals, some pt, some briefs, maybe some training evolution, drill, and a bunch of other random stuff. Favorite day was the day I got to leave (immediately ate 7600 calories of deep dish pizza, I was starved).

If you or anyone else have any other questions just ask them below.
