Will a conditional release from NG to Active affect my class of 2026 application?

Good morning! For some context: all of my COC references and commander nomination are from my guard unit. My COC has no issue releasing me into active duty, but we were wondering if this would cause any conflict in my application.

From my understanding West Point pulls from different candidate pools: prep school, active and reserves, National Guard, and civillians.

Would I have to start over with my new active unit, where no credibility has been established and there is no guarantee that my would be new commander nominate me, or would I be completely fine?

I want to be sure I understand: you were pursuing a release to active duty concurrent with your application to the academy?

Or were you trying to get released to active duty because of your application?

Same question per se... I turn 17 a week before my senior year.... I really want to enlist in the NG, but I'm afraid it will mess up my 2026 WP Application? Does anyone have any advice?

No problem, but I do want to be release to active duty concurrent with my application to the academy.

Personally I would just enlist for a year or two knowing that I have until I'm 23 to attend West Point; especially since you can guarantee USMAPS if your enlisted. But if you have a very important reason to not wait than by all means prioritize West Point.

When I was 17 my senior year I enlisted and purposefully waited on West Point, so I got several cool schools knocked out (airborne). I'm also going to be 21 come July 1st this year, so I'm cutting it a bit close for the class of 2021; maybe waited a little too long
