The Military Feel Good Thread - Post anything

"No man will be a sailor who has contrivance enough to get himself into a jail; for being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned... a man in a jail has more room, better food, and commonly better company."-Samuel Johnson
Maybe this should be in the one-liner leadership thread...

Contrivance: the use of skill to bring something about or create something.

Went to the base theatre to see Patton. If you remember the opening. The huge American Flag comes on the screen. Everyone stands!! Footsteps and Patton walks forward to give his speech. They skipped the usual military intro but the automatic reaction was the same..

If you liked that speech, found it inspiring...

NEVER NEVER NEVER actually listen to a recording a "real" Gen'l GS Patton speech...

His voice will...

You'll be disappointed.

Basically, if it’s material your “I woulda enlisted in the military but can’t no drill instructors tell me what to do” cousin uses to spend a fun weekend, it’s likely banned from Parris Island.

Big shout out to the Blue Angels, Paramount, Disney, & the 30 or so past CO's (who gave very, very 'constructive' criticism of the team) who all graciously gave their input to improve the safety & performance of the 2021 season! Plan to see the NYS show. Love to to see what freedom looks like!
PS: Like this vid the T-birds flying over water...you know, like that 'other' team sometimes does;)

@Devil Doc I mean, who hasn't opened a drawer or cabinet & found a handgun & said to themselves, "Oh yeah, that's where I put that." Hypothetically ;)

Disney has also had some problems. One was Wow I forgot I had that 9MM and 100 rounds in the stroller, silly me. According to reports they actually have lock boxes for weapon storage before entering the park.:bang:

I love this country.

More than once, I've headed on base here for some hiking and remembered while waiting in the cue to get through the MP's, damn, my pistol is in the center console. Had to flip a u-turn and return to the casa to store it.

One place you do not want to take a weapon is onto an installation with very well-trained soldiers, airmen, or sailors.

If you were looking for a feel-good story to end the week and put a little ooorah in your day then here it is.

I've seen Woody in several interviews, mostly with Martha McCallum. He's a very inspirational and eloquent man .
