Hello!

I am a current student in college looking to contract in March with the Army ROTC program at my university. But, I have a question I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere.

So...

I had a subtotal colectomy back in March of this year (2009) and have recovered very well. I am back up and running 5 - 6 miles everyday and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in. Now, I was looking through the DQ codes on the DoDMERB website and bowel resection happens to be on the list, so I wanted to ask and see if anyone has had experience with this issue, or if anyone knew if my condition would have a higher chance of being waived.

Just an added note, I can obtain a letter from my gastroentestinal doctor/surgeon completely clearing me for active duty military service.

Thanks ahead of time for any replies!

Well done on your recovery but remember your physician can't clear you for military service - a military physician must clear you. They will take your records into consideration. Mr Mullen will explain it all.... good luck!
