UAV pilot requirements?

"The Coast Guard currently plans to have four Predator-B qualified pilots.
Current FAA regulations require any aircraft operated in the national airspace system, including unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), to be piloted by a qualified and current pilot. The first operational USCG UAV pilot is LT Thomas Shuler who has six years of experience flying the USCG HU-25 Falcon jet in law enforcement missions."

The way I understand it is that the UAV platform will be treated like any other...aka you go to flight school at NAS Pensacola like every other pilot and then instead of going to specialized training at ATC Mobile for the HH-65, HH-60, or whatever, you go for specialized UAV training.

I heard on the news today that thee is a debate going on within the military services on who should "fly" these UAVs. Currently, only very experienced pilots are offered the assignment, however there is a group that argues youngsters who are avid gamers would do a better job. That may be the case in the future but as of now, UAV pilots go through full flight training and log years worth of flight experience before flying the drones.
