My daughter is registered for the Virtual Cadet for the Day. I'm wondering now if missing school and an important test will make it worthwhile. Since we are on the west coast, she would really have to miss the entire day of school to attend this. How beneficial do you think it would be? Of course she would like to attend and get as much information as possible, but we are weighing the pros & cons now. Does admissions put a lot of weight on the students attending these virtual events? Thank you.

Is it possible for her to switch dates? There are more than one Virtual Cadet for the Day dates. Has she already attended other events? Did she attend AIM? Does she feel that she has all the info she needs to make a decision about attending if she is offered a spot in the class of 2026? Admissions does keep track of applicants interactions, but that includes more than virtual events. That also includes engaging with her AO and with the coaches. If she is an athlete she could also reach out to the coach and ask if there are any current cadets she could reach out to for more information on the team and what cadet life is like.

She attended AIM and she is also registered for the Cadet for the Day (in person). Yes, she is an athlete. She emailed the coach as well as filled out the form, but never heard back. That's a good idea about asking to contact a current team member. She has been watching the games that have been streaming online and I think reaching out to a player would be a great idea. Thank you.

AIM did more for her than the virtual day IMO. CGA reports stats on how many appointees attended AIM and it is getting to be close to 50% of the class, so I would say she has a leg up already. If she still has questions about the school or if it is a fit for her, then ANY type of engagement is helpful. If AIM solidified all of her questions, participation in something like this is not needed.

Class of 2022 example of how AIM participation is reported by Admissions: https://www.cgaalumni.org/s/1043/im...tin/18oct/class_of_2021_and_2022_profiles.pdf

I agree with shiner. If she already did AIM and she is worried about missing the day and test, then I would say it is not necessary. However, I would make sure that she officially unregisters and contacts the AO to tell them why. Being a no-show with no explanation would not look good. If she is already registered for an in-person Cadet for the Day, then she definitely has a good reason to unregister for the virtual one. If she has not watched the various videos available then I would do that. If it has been a little bit since reaching out to the coach, then I wouldn't hesitate to follow up with another email. The coaches get a lot of emails and sometimes they get lost in the shuffle. Did she meet the coach at AIM?

We’re in California too and have the same issue. I’m going to give permission to have her leave class and then go back for her physics class and leave again for the later hour. Wasn’t sure what to do either but also don’t want to miss anything that might help with her application.
