Just received word that DS is safe and sound back in Chase Hall. Red eye + train ride + cab = one tired cadet, but he is "home".

We were not sure what to expect with having him back in the nest after six months at CGA, but man were we pleased. He irons, he polishes shoes, he takes care of his laundry, and has generally grown up a whole bunch. CGA really did do in 18 minutes what we, his parents, couldn't do in 18 years! My one complaint (and it is one that I would never give voice to, save here on this message board!) is that he reverted back to the sloppy room syndrome of years past. His room looked like a tornado blew through! With all the growth in the other areas, I'll take the messy room.

For those who are heading out THIS YEAR :)biggrin:) you are in for a great experience. For the parents who are sending their kids, I cannot say enough about how well cared for our son is. Well fed, well cared for, well guided. While it was hard to say goodbye last night, we knew that he was going back where he wanted and needs to be.

Happy 2010 CGA family. It's been a great ride so far, and this family cannot wait to see what comes next. :thumb:

Don't feel so bad my so has reverted back as well!
:bang:

Wow, he's really early, the deadline for return isn't until 2200 tomorrow.

Coming in from Cali you can't take chances on the weather, etc.

Great to hear you had a good holiday with him. Hope you can make it East for a regatta this spring.

The ironing is the thing that blew my mind the first time mine was home. Haha. He showed his sisters a thing or two.

Fear of getting stranded in Minneapolis (which I am sure is a lovely place to be stranded...) or someplace else that is snowed in, had us arrange to get him back a day early. We opted for the direct flight to Newark as well to further reduce the likelihood of being delayed.

He was planning on napping a lot today and tomorrow to catch up on his sleep. The kid didn't sleep much while home...too much to do in Sunny California.

We do plan on coming out for a race this spring. Hoping he gets a schedule early this year so we can make plans.

I can give you a rough idea since it's usually the same every year.

March 27: Holy Cross and Wesleyan at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA(our rowing home away from home)-This is a definite.

April 3(Easter Weekend, maybe a good weekend to go): @UConn with Trinity(last couple years it has been at Lake Coventry near Storrs)-this is also definite per published Trinity schedule.

April 10: @UMass Lowell

April 17:mad:URI

April 18: Conn College

April 24: @Williams College in Mass. Great event at a beautiful venue.

May 1: New England Championships at Lake Q

May 9: Nationals, back at Lake Q this year.

I would say this is 90-95% accurate but the official sched should be out soon.

Thank you Steve! This will be handy in planning a trip out. We'll just have to wait to see if there is a "best" weekend for him as we hope to maximize our time with him. No fun to go all the way across the country if he has to cram for midterms or finals.

Our son made it back by 2100 last night with the aid of his XO who gave him a ride back from PVD. Parents of 2014,rest assured they take care of each other as do the parents. Son upon return home, went through his room and re-folded all of his clothes and thoroughly cleaned his room! He did not revert back to his messy ways. Curiously enough he slept on top of his covers, as to not mess up the sheets.:shake:

Wow CenTex Dad--my daughter definitely did not 'refold' all of her clothes when she came home. She is still 'cluttered' in her ways at home - but I think it's hysterical to hear her fuss at her 2 younger sisters about them needing to clean up after themselves :yllol:.

She flew out of NC this am and just texted a little while ago after she boarded her connection from Philly to PVD. Says there are a lot of other fellow CGA cadets on board!
