Army ROTC | CST OPFOR, considering it. Thoughts or experiences ?

I’m a sophomore and prior service 11B in the guard. I am not contracted because I am not an MS2 yet, I started school spring semester of freshman year instead of fall like everyone else.

Obviously being uncontracted and a 1 doesn’t leave much room for schools and summer training opportunities. I am not interested in projectGo and I’m not academically competitive enough for the internships.
Cadet summer training opfor seems like the best move. I want to do army stuff throughout the summer. I know the pay is like 36$ a day, and there’s a bit of ****. **** games. I also heard that there is a lot of time spent in the field/tactics.

I’m not expecting to really get much out of the OPFOR experience as far as learning battle drills go, since I’ already have a lot of experience with it. I’m looking to just put it into practice and going into the field, executing, and I guess improving by doing.

Thoughts, comments, concerns ? What was your opfor experience like?

I have never been cadet OPFOR, but I have been cadre evaluator for the patrolling and SQD STX lanes at Advanced Camp. You will be in the field about 2/3 of your time there. There are 12hrs of lanes each training day. 6 lanes of STX in that 12 hrs, or 3 lanes of patrolling in that 12hrs. You will basically, be waiting for the cadets to reach the OBJ, engage them, participate in AAR, rinse and repeat. You do have a day or two off in between regiments going through the lanes.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. Talked to my cadre about it and my APMS didn't know it existed. I was told when slots come out for schools, it could then be discussed possible. Not sure if there are any other actions, I could take to increase my chances of getting an OPFOR slot, didn't realize it came down as a school slot. Any advice?
