My son is a cadet on an ROTC Scholarship. He will graduate and commission in May 2022. He has an approved Education Delay and will begin his DPT program shortly after commissioning. We are trying to determine what his status with the Army will be, as he will be a 2LT. He will be going to school for three years straight, with nine semesters separated by two-week breaks. He is a military dependent (retired dependent) and covered by Tricare right now, but that will end when he turns 23. He has been told he won't be drawing a paycheck during this three-year period but doesn't know anything about other benefits to which he may be entitled. The school where he will be going is very military friendly and offers special tuition rates to active duty, dependents of active duty (not him) and reservists. Can anyone provide insight as to what his likely status will be?
