Do ROTC applicants automatically get registered with DoDMERB?

After finding these boards (I couldn't go crazy alone anymore while waiting for updates on my son's two ROTC scholarship apps - Navy & AF) I've been reading about DoDMERB, and out of curiosity went to log in and see what - if any - the status was there.

He hasn't had a physical yet and didn't apply to either academy, so I shouldn't be surprised that I got "There is no application matching the social security number or date of birth entered." - right?

I believe ROTC is only having candidates do the DODMERB physical after they have been offered a scholarship. So until then you don't have to worry about it. My son is in the same boat, only applied for an AFROTC scholarship.

Thanks, that's what I thought. And just when I thought I'd found a new place to login and check the status of something. lol

Shanagan, DoDMERB is the first place I learned that my son received his NROTC scholarship, and he did not apply to any of the service academies. The day after the board met I once again checked that site. Up until then I had been checking and receiving the same message you had. This time it brought up a screen with his name on it and I had to create an account. Once I made a username and plugged in the temp password, they sent me a confirmation email confirming his account and the home page stated that a scholarship offer had been made. Of course we had not seen anything else, so that was our first indication of a scholarship. I was checking DoDMERB as often as I was checking the NROTC website. Don't despair, one day soon you'll see the same screen!

Lesrunmore, what great information, thank you! I am so glad I found these forums!

How did you check his status on DoDMERB? Do you need a log in? Im just trying to see if I can get a status update as well.

I think post #4 in this thread accurately describes the process. Basically you just continue to try to log-in until DoDMERB allows you onto it's site. Until then there is no record and therefor you can't log in. Good Luck!

Thanks so much Aglages. Your help is appreciated by me and everone else on these boards. Good Luck!

You are very welcome PapaBear. I am very happy to share with others the information that I have been fortunate to receive from others. Good Luck to you also!:thumb:
