Appointee Kit Q&A

Do we need to send the original social security card ?
Will a copy suffice ?
I'm not sure which is allowed, but I took the original and left a copy at home. IMO, your DD/DS is starting their adult life, and it's time to start handling their own important documents. I have a little file organizer with all my important documents locked in my lock-drawer, so there are secure places here to keep them!

That being said, I'll let someone else answer your question.

My DD was able to use a copy last year. We had put all our documents in a “safe” location, so safe we couldn’t find them. 🤦‍♀️ We ordered a new ss card but it didn’t arrive in time. Luckily we had a copy of it from an earlier application and she was able to use that.

Does anyone have access to SF-600 or any other items mentioned in the handbook that comes after completing the appointee kit?

For the SGLI paperwork does anyone know how/where to fill in the amount you want to get for coverage (if you don’t want the full 400,000)? Don’t see a spot for that, only a place for your current coverage which is 0.

Click on the 400k and a dropdown will appear with lower amounts.

So this first one they do is on paper, and that’s what we have to work with only, and bring it with them to I Day. Thank you though, that’s how it must work in the future when they they are actually in.

It downloads as a pdf. In this format, they can type in their info. The drop down is active. Once complete, they can print, sign and hand carry to the academy. Normally, this is all done online but they would need their CAC ID to sign the document.

You do need the original, if you don't have an original in readable condition you can order a replacement from the Social Security Agency. As a rule of thumb, bring originals have a copy at home, have a copy saved somewhere online(Google Drive, OneDrive, Sync,etc.).

Does anyone know if we are supposed to fax the parent club papers or just take a picture of it and link it?

Could someone paste a link to the 2026 Appointee Handbook? I am unable to open it from the portal. Thank you!

what happens after we submit the appointee kit?

thanks

Nothing for us except it locks you from making any changes.
I read in the candidate booklet that it "generates an itinerary for you based on answers you provided in the Appointee Kit" I was just wondering if anyone has received theirs yet or what the timeline for that is like.

My son just took his last final for his 3-degree year this morning, so he becomes a 2-degree once the c/o 2022 graduates on May 25th. Two years ago, his portal updated on June 12th with his report time for BCT and his BCT squadron. There weren't any notifications between finishing his appointee kit and that June notification. Hope that helps for what to expect, timeline-wise.

I requested a gov. purchased airline ticket, which in the directions for choosing travel options, it vaguely states will be received by June 1st.

I requested a gov. ticket too and emailed admissions two days ago to see when we will receive our flight plans. Hopefully they will email me back today.
