Hello!

I just wanted to let everyone on this board know that tomorrow night (Thursday January 21st) starting at 8pm, all three episodes of the series “Inside America’s Military Academies” will air on the Military Channel. The series describes life at the Air Force, Coast Guard, Military, and Naval Academies.

Episodes:

Surviving the First Year: Military academies truly stand apart from other colleges and universities. In addition to the grueling basic training, these institutions boast unique physical and educational requirements - and rich traditions and history.

No Time Off for Summer: Sweat alongside cadets and midshipmen for six weeks of grueling summer training. Each faces and tries to overcome their own mental and physical limitations on land, in the air and at sea.

The Making of an Officer: Seniors at several military academies serve as examples of the high moral standards and honor each institution strives to instill in its students. Course work as well as extracurricular activities are often geared to enhancing these qualities.

The schedule can be found here.

Thanks to Luigi for posting on the CGA forum! Just wanted to pass it on so that no one misses it :)

Thanks! I've already TiVoed the 1st and 2nd episodes from a previous airing-just need the 3rd one

I hope we get it. Anyone know what channel on Dish network?

jennyp-- I don't know what service provider we have but on my tv it's channel 114.

This is a very good program for all prospective applicants. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks everyone for continuing to bump this thread enough that I finally read it while home and actually set the DVR to record! Now if only someone else doesn't decide it's more important to bump mine and record NCIS reruns or something similar!

The show is great. Check your schedule for the Military Chanel if you have it. They are Sooooooo Young.

aww, i don't have either cable or dish. do you think they are going to put it online?

The first two episodes are here (although fairly low quality...). I can't find the third episode. Maybe call a friend and ask them to record it?

They mistakenly called USAFA's basic cadet training Beast (ie mixed it up with USMA's basic training program).

All in all I think they're a good look at the academies and they're making me incredibly excited to be leaving in six months to join USNA's class of 2014!!

Great show

Thanks for posting this. Watched the whole thing. How amazng is it that Meagan Varney (the last female F14 pilot) is someone who was pulled out to be interviewed as a USNA plebe in this show and she is also one of the two pilots followed in the "Speed and Angels" movie ?! She must have been a star from day 1.

BTW, Go Navy, Beat Army -- men's and women's basketball tomorrow.

This series was great, but they did not show if USNA has some of the same combat courses as West Point and Air Force. Can any current or recent grad describe what is available at USNA? Do they have combat courses and jumping like they showed at Air Force?

Does anyone know if they have this on video?

Military Channel's store has it for $49 foreach of the three disks; Amazon has them for $99 for each of the three. Another user got it through interlibrary loan.

I second this question......:thumb:

Admissions

Obviously these videos are a little outdated, but I was curious if anybody knew if the admission board still has those red/green blocks to make their vote on the specific candidates? It was in the begining of the first video and it was at the Naval Academy section.
