Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

I had a dream last night that Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky got together for breakfast and they were so changed by the thick-sliced Wright bacon, that they decided to end the war.

It could happen.

Wait, you dreamed of watching other people eat bacon but not you? How were you able to recover?

I fixed my usual Saturday or Sunday night special last night. Spicy Pork belly and rice. DW doesn't like Pork, so sometimes its up me to ensure all of this pork doesn't go to waste.

I start with the cubed 6 mm slices. Hoping to get each side a little crisp.

Add in a half bottle of something spicy.

Cook on low for about another hour or so.

I ate about 1/3 of this last night. I was trying to walk my usual 3 mile loop in a food coma.

Is there creamer in that coffee? Blecccch!
^ This .... anybody else think coffee shops, particularly in airports, should have a separate line for plain black coffee orders ? Nothing bothers me more when traveling than having to wait in line waiting for people to order and staff to make double soy lattes' with double pumps of caramel and creme on top. Imagine the throughput if there was a line for "black coffee- large" (and a side of bacon to stay on thread !)

I was in the mood for bacon cheeseburgers this past weekend. Lack of burger meat and buns hindered me, as well as a slothful disinclination to go to the store. I made bacon cheese hot dogs:
- My usual Schmidt’s potato long buns, lightly buttered, dusted with garlic powder and oven toasted.
- 100% beef Ball Park jumbo dogs (let’s save hot dog preferences for another day), grilled.
- Beecher’s Flagship cheese put to melt in the buns once they were toasted and sitting in a warm oven. If you’ve never had Beecher’s cheese from Washington, I recommend it. I can find it at Trader Joe’s and sometimes Whole Foods. You can order it online. It’s white, tasting buttery and sharp at the same time.
- Wright’s bacon, cooked and crumbled.
- Your choice of either raw chopped Vidalia onions or the onions sautéed in a bit of bacon fat.
- Any other condiments you wish. DH likes a horseradish brown mustand squiggle.
- For a side, I had something called “Atomic Hot Pickles” from a local farmer’s market.
- The usual selection of 5 ice creams, as we had 2 sponsor mids with us and a younger mid sib who was at USNA for a sports camp.

The bacon dogs were pronounced acceptable. Sixteen of them. I only had one. Astonishing math for the others.

Brilliant. Especially the bacon side. You could call it “B & B,” a black and bacon.

I would stop and get coffee more often if I got one slice of crisp bacon with it, for sure.

Sounds amazing and if you fry one side of a slice of bread in the bacon fat then wrap the bacon dog in that it gives a satisfying additional crispness as well as making the most of the left over bacon fat.

...while rolling the dice on a "cardiac event".

I like it! :)

I just bought two carbon steel pans. Should have bought them years ago. I'm surprised they aren't more common.

After an overnight oven/stove seasoning session, I decided bacon and eggs should be my first meal this morning. The bacon crisped up perfectly, and the eggs slid off like a wet ice cube. And I was able to use metal cooking utensils. No more worries about scratching teflon!

Like I said, I should have bought these pans years ago. I have two cast iron pans that my grandfather helped make somewhere around 1915 when he was working at a foundry. I love them, but these carbon steel pans are about half the weight.

I highly suggest. They aren't expensive, and just get better with age.

Yum. How do I mail order this or make it myself?
If you are being serious? The company is included and you can order! @baconmammajamma IDK how to make it. I bet some of our aficionados could FIO!
