Hey guys,

So I DORed from the Naval Academy halfway through my plebe year and other than one person in my company, I'm the only person I know. Does anyone know any other folks who have also left? It's kind of been difficult working through it without anyone else here like me in my home state.

Thank you on advance to anyone who responds :)

Did you have a question about NFCU, per your thread title?

Leaving a service academy will often lead you through a grieving process, which is normal. Keep looking forward, actively planning and working toward your new goals and objectives. That, PT and time will help more than anything else.

Hahaha sorry! I meant to ask a question about banking too but I figured I should probably do more research! I was just curious if I would still be allowed to keep my bank account even though it says I'm active duty (though I'm clearly not)

And thank you, I really appreciate the advice. It's been rough since I left but I know it'll get better :)

If you remain active in that account, they shouldn’t shut it down, but that is merely my opinion. For other NFCU members who leave the military via separation or retirement, they remain members. Recommend logging into your NFCU profile and updating your status.

From a former banking lobbyist whose memory is admittedly rusty: Credit unions usually take a “once a member, always a member” approach. You just need to keep a modest amount in your account, say $200. Of course, a direct call to NFCU is the best way to confirm.

Not sure what you are looking for in your question. Are you talking about regrets? Finding yourself? Admin stuff?? Here is my overall, general ‘mom’ advice:

Find stufff to do. Find a focus. Get involved. Don’t sit home and dwell on the past (not saying you are), but rather switch gears and find different interests. If you are at a college, get into different groups to stay busy and meeet people. I would advise my own to join a school based or young adult faith community group. They are particularly good at strengthening a PMA!!

You aren’t different than others that are experiencing a big change/loss. Connecting with people and moving forward will help with that.

Thank you so much! Sorry about the incorrect title, my brain went in two different directions on that one...
