USNA Class of 2026 Appointee Ready Room

This is from ABS - "AP scores (4 or above) or the USNA placement and validation exams are the ONLY way to validate....If you are expecting to validate via an AP score for a math course, make sure all your AP scores are sent to the USNA Registrar. AP scores will supersede the online test scores."

I believe Calc is one of the only classes that allow AP scores to be used to validate, if that helps

You may want to double check that. I believe that USNA doesn't recognize AP exam text results. You will still have to take their placement exam during Plebe summer to possibly place out of any classes.
You can validate some courses with AP. It's all spelled out here

It says in big bold letters that AP exam test results validate over any USNA validation tests on ABS.

Hey everyone. On the plebe summer brief that was sent out to the class of 2026, they mentioned we will get our company assignments today. If so, where will we be informed about this? I would assume email? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Are you referring to the online presentation they sent out a couple days ago? I thought they said company assignments go out more towards I-day and that our PTR letter should come out before 31 May, although I definitely could've missed them saying that company assignments would be out today.

I heard the same - company assignments towards I-day and PTR before 5/31.

the first half is on the permit to report and the second half is on plebe summer/ the ac year

Here is a link to re-watch
Requires a log in, should anyone be able to view? (Admissions emailed a link around the day after that presentation for those like us who missed it, but it was seemingly incomplete and didn't open to anything, and they never responded when I replied telling them that and asking if they had another link...)

Ready Room announcements for parents, guardians and friends. Here are some ways to follow your midshipman on I-Day and beyond:

If attending I-Day in person, get a print copy of The Capitol Gazette the day after. The local paper does a pretty good job of covering the ongoings at the Naval Academy. If you are unable to attend, consider an e-subscription: Capital Gazette: Annapolis breaking news, sports, weather and traffic. They are currently offering a four-week rate at 99 cents and often will offer a special in an effort to get you to extend the subscription. You can cancel anytime. I like their football coverage.

Eye on Annapolis covered I-day for the Class of '25 last year. Maybe the Class of 2026 will get the same coverage. It’s worth a peek at this URL. I-Day 2021. Numbers And Photos for the USNA Class of 2025 - Eye On Annapolis : Eye On Annapolis

WBALTV, USNA Class of 2025 midshipmen complete Herndon Monument climb (wbaltv.com), has also covered I-day, PPW, Herndon, Commissioning Week and Graduation. When the time comes, use the search function to find a particular event. Herndon is less than a year away for '26!

Good luck to all as the big day approaches.

Growing up, The Capital was known as the Crab Wrapper ......... they were definitely just the local rag for natives. The Sun held much more prestige in people's eyes.

BUT ..... they did cover the Annapolis stuff well, and were the best source for local goings-on.

Posted on another thread....7 day!!!!!!

DS is finishing up Block 1 training and will be back on the Yard on Friday. He is hoping to catch glimpses of I-Day proceedings next week in between his Block 2 training classes. I kind of wish I could be on the Yard again for I-day to absorb more than I did last year. Perhaps if DS is a First Set Detailer someday I will visit again.

DS is a 2024 so we and he had no traditional IDay. And that’s okay. Worked out the way it was meant to.

Fast forward to him last summer on the yard to knock out two voluntary classes to make a minor and his major doable.

He called me from his room in Mother B with his roomie. They were watching moms and dads, grandparents, significant others say goodbye in those few moments before the big doors close.

He told me in retrospect that us not being there ensured he could focus on his path and his immediate goal. I totally get it. Things happen for a reason. And we survived and will be okay without the pomp of IDay. Thank goodness for the livestream. The “full speed ahead” made my knees buckle and my throat convulse. The tears kicked in. The good kind.

Weather looks pretty cooperative for I Day. Have to see how it develops, but I can tolerate clouds and some occasional light showers. Better than roasting in the sun!

Weather, among other things, is an important part of Navy PowerPoint briefings. A slide like this could be included to add some levity to the situation next week.

May all plebes thrive in adversity during their Navy journey! I wish the USNA Class of 2026, and parents, only the very best.

Now I would like to see the Suck Factor Table, from Embracing the Suck to Consumed by the Suck.

Love the plebe covers above!

Word for the wise ...... when the others are released to go hang out with family, and you don't have anyone to see, do NOT walk right in Bancroft and head toward your company for reporting. My company was way back in one of the further wings. I made it about 50 feet in Bancroft before the fun began!! Even with 25 minutes to spare, I barely made it back to my company in time, and I was already sore!! I probably had to recite rates and got dropped to the floor literally 20 times before getting back to my unit. It was an incredibly stacked gauntlet the whole way through the hall.

Find out where your company is located in the hall, find another way around to get to it other than walking through the front doors. Will make your life much easier!! ;)
You will be walking into Bancroft with your company following the 30 mins after the oath when you form up on Stribling, so don’t worry about finding your company area by yourself! You won’t be issued a CAC until before PPW anyways, and you can’t get into Bancroft without one/they wouldn’t let a lone plebe walk around by themselves inside.
