Good evening all! I've made a couple of posts already without an introduction, so here it is! Attending the Naval Academy has been a dream of mine since I was young, and I have done everything in my power to help prepare. I've spoken with guidance counselors, family friends who have attended in the past, and you all on the forum for aid. I'm currently a freshman in HS (moving up to a sophomore in September) and I'm in honors and AP classes with a 4.0 GPA. I have not yet taken the SAT. I'm already in the science national honor society, and planning on joining the main national honor society. I'm a varsity wrestler, and I lettered last season (I'll continue throughout HS). I also aim to become team captain in my junior year. I'm currently the student government president, and I also plan to attend Boys State in the summer of my junior year. During the summer I am a volunteer camp counselor as well. Finally, I enjoy playing the guitar in my free time, though I am not in a band or anything. Thank you all for taking the time to read this! Any and all help/tips is greatly appreciated!

From one grappler to another -- welcome! (I still do BJJ competitions in the "old man" divisions)

You sound like a rockstar and are doing all the right things. Clearly, crushing the SAT is the largest uncertainty and biggest x-factor in what sounds like a strong competitive profile. Keep up the hard work and I hope to see you as a student of mine one day.

My apologies for not being able to reply sooner, but I truly appreciate your reply! Thank you very much for the advice. I understand that the SAT/ACT is a huge part in the USNA admissions process, and I'm looking into some SAT prep so that I'm ready to take it junior year.

On a side note, I have the utmost respect for BJJ! There is truly no sport quite like BJJ or wrestling.

Thanks again for the help, and thank you for your service. My fingers are crossed to one day be in your class as well!

Keep on keeping on. So far, so good. Hope you make to Annapolis in a few more years. But remember, there are many routes to a commission in the Navy or Marines. If being an officer is your goal, keep those other routes in mind. Once you've got your ensign or 2nd lieutenant bars, no one cares how you got 'em.

P.S. Team captain in wrestling is nice - as good as that 4.0 GPA and AP classes. Keep it up!
