Any BGO will recommend you go for every nomination for which you are qualified. It does give the Admissions Board some flexibility in considering you for an offer of appointment. Also, you may be on one slate of nominees where you may not be the top choice, but on another where you are competitive. I just interviewed a very qualified candidate who was in that situation, and who almost assuredly will receive an offer as a result. I have another candidate who is very highly qualified, but is on a slate with at least four holders of LOAs. Word to the wise - Leave no stone unturned!
Best wishes.
