Chances of getting a waiver

Hello,

I just heard back from DoDMERB that I have disqualifying components to my physical. I had arthroscopic knee surgery this past June and they were able to fix the problem. I have returned to full activity and completed NSI in July. I was wondering what my chances of getting a waiver are?

I was able to submit my MRI and X-ray, both of which came up as clear. I also submitted the surgical notes and post op notes that show they fixed the problem. However, I'm concerned that a knee surgery this recent might result in a DQ. I also have a history of scalp psoriasis, which has also been resolved. Looking for some insight on what my chances are.

Also, DoDMERB took a while to get back to me so I definitely won't have a waiver by the time I start school and start at my unit in late August. What does this mean? Can I participate in ROTC without at waiver?

Any insight or tips are appreciated.

As far as I know, you can. I did while my packet was under review, I was just labeled as "seeking" as I'm yet to contract.

However, to answer your overarching question. I'm pretty sure these are decided on a case-by-case basis meaning it's kind of pointless to ask what your chances are. @MullenLE would probably be a better source of info, as this is just from my personal experience.

Ok, thank you so much! I am really hoping that it is not an issue because I am completely fine and at 100%, thanks for the info.

Waivers are case by case basis but you should prepare yourself because actual psoriasis is usually not waived.
