When do the offers start to roll out? Honestly, I feel like I have a slim chance of gaining acceptance but I hope to obtain an AOG scholarship to prep school or gain an appointment to USMAPS. Does anyone know when these offers start to come out? Also, when could the possible dreaded rejection letter come?

DS received his USMAPS Appointment letter 18 Feb 09, you should start seeing things move soon.

Do you mind posting the stats of the USMAPS cadet. How does he like it there?

Since they're are not my scores, I'll generalize, he was fully qualified for direct appointment (USNA and USMA) but had on the low end of math. He also attended (fully qualified) NASS and was DQ'ed by DoDMERB for the USNA for color vision, the USMA was brought up (he did have a full application in but was in a NJROTC unit so, he always thought he'd go Marine at USNA) to him by the Military Liaison at a Nomination Interview, this gentleman asked DS if he would accept year at Prep out of the blue. This kind of threw us as we thought it was completely up to the Admissions at USMA and sure enough, the next week the Liaison called and told him he had his top Nomination and recommended USMAPs. About a Month later while talking to an admissions officer they un officially told him he was probably getting an appointment to Prep, a week later the Appointment showed up in the mail.

It was a tough decision for DS as he also received a NROTC-MC option scholarship to three of his top choice schools (one being VT) and a 5 school scholarship from the AROTC to his top choice "B" plan school, The Citadel.

He's loves USMAPS and can't wait to be up at West Point this year. He struggled first semester with math (calc track) a little and went on Academic Restriction for half a semester, he brought his grade up to a B now and off AR. He's always done well in English so, there were no problems there. He says he thinks he's worked out his math and is happy where he is, and Prep was well worth the extra year.

He also did a lot of maturing at Prep so far, he had just turned 18 when he arrived at R-Day and was never away from home so we as parents think it might have helped him in that regard.

pj - if you would accept a prep appointment, I suggest you make contact with your Regional Commander, ask about the status of your file and advise him of that.

Already have! The Major I contacted said it meant a lot and would be added to my file!
