Wow, the wheels of justice are turning very slowly on this one. I can’t believe it’s still going on.

I would guess the trials were deliberately delayed in hopes they would attract less attention and that people would have forgotten about the whole fiasco

I think they are trying to roll it up from the bottom, picking off lower branches and negotiating for additional information on the next level up. They’re roughly at the O-6 and O-7 level now. Who knows how high this will go.

Not really. The wheels of the federal trials are moving very slowly because they are still trying to get maximum cooperation from some who want lighter sentences. An example of this is Fat Leonard himself who is not currently in jail but instead on a form of house arrest while he deals with longstanding health issues.

Lots of discussion in the SWO world (multi-hundred pages of comments) with some folks who were internally well known within the community as detailers, ship COs etc. That said, the "outstanding" cases at this point seem to be mostly O5/O6 types. Informed speculation from folks watching this pretty closely is that the big names who were in line to be tarnished by this have already been adjudicated. The three and four stars who had pictures taken with FL or similar have been pretty closely scrutinized and no indictments appear to have happened. As you know, some of those folks are known to some of us on this board and I hope that their involvement is actually over with.

I know there was a wavelet of strategic retirements a few years back. I know a few of the O-6s, worked with one in a civilian role. Never heard a peep out of him about any of this years ago, but again, not photos you want to share around.

Sentences were to light IMHO. As former 7th fleet I would have never expected people in such power to basically sell me out.

Not alot of things make me sick, but this does.

The unconscionable waste of taxpayer money. The absolute deliberateness of it all. The over-the-top self-indulgence. The lying.

I expect those lower down the chain pled guilty in exchange for more lenient sentences and damning evidence against those at the top.

No, I'd bet some place less politically fraught where he'd be less likely to end up as a token to be traded later. He'd probably head somewhere without extradition, featuring a little less banking enforcement where he can access his retirement funds more easily.
