2027 State Nominations Thread

Does your DS know when Senator Portman will release nomination decisions?
They told DS that although historically Sen Portman and Sen Brown's staff compare nomination decisions in December, and adjust based on their respective lists, but Sen Portman is retiring. So his Sen Portman's staff told DS that they are going to make their decision independent of Sen Brown's staff, but then still compare with Sen Brown's staff in December. So presumably sometime in Nov-Dec Sen Portman's staff will have a decision made. They didn't specify an exact date. On Rep Davidson's staff said they would make their nomination decisions in November.

I have an urgent question.i live in western hamilton county. which for many years was congressional district #1.i have apllied to what i thought was my local congressman.which for many years was district#1.and i have an interview later this month.
in the recent months their has been court cases to restructure district maps.i just just looked at Ohio secretary state website, congressional maps and I am now district #8.
my high school is just across the border line, still in district #1.
When DS interviewed in Ohio District 8 with Rep Davidson's staff, they mentioned the redistricting but that the changes likely wouldn't be in effect for nomination purposes until the next cycle (so Class of '28). Depending on how the redistricting goes, we may no longer be in District 8 next year, but DS did interview as part of this District this year, despite those cases.

Has anyone heard from TX Congressman Burgess (TX26) about interviews? When DS turned in his nomination application, they said to hold Nov 19 as an interview day and that the office would be in touch if you were granted an interview. I thought we might have heard by now and wondered if anyone has heard?
I heard Friday afternoon via phone call that I got an interview. They also sent an email and it went straight to my spam so maybe check there as well.

We are from MA, my DD applied in October to Congressman McGovern (got an email
that our packet was received and they will notify us with the interview schedule, mostly around 11/14), Senator Markey (we mailed the package and yet to hear back) , Senator Warren (submission was online we are yet to hear back).

I believe Sen. Markey's due date for the package to be submitted, was 11/1 and Sen. Warren's I believe is 11/11 so I would give it another few weeks. My DS is in the same boat, but from the western end of the state.

Wondering if anyone from New York has heard from either of our Senators yet.

Or your congressperson.

Last year my son had all 3 interviews in the first 10 days of December. Wondering if the same will be true this year.

Has anybody heard anything from CA-25 / CA-27 Mike Garcia’s office? His website says interviews are scheduled for 11/19 and my DS hasn’t heard anything. Does that mean my DS hasn’t been chosen for an interview?

My son was going to call the congressman‘s office if he hadn’t heard anything. (We are TX. Idk about your specific district.) Sometimes unrecognized emails go to junk mail. Check there too.

Anyone in MS have a scheduled interview with Trent Kelly, Cindy Hyde-Smith or Roger Wicker yet as of Nov 13Th?

I posted this on a different thread and then realized this may be a better place for it…

My daughter’s interview with our congressman’s nomination panel was yesterday. She was told half of the usual number of nomination applications were received this cycle in our district. Would be interesting to know if our senators are also receiving fewer applications and if it holds true across many states.

DD received her nomination from our congresswoman on January 25 last year, we actually didn’t think she received a nomination because it was so late . She saw the nomination pop up in her portal . This year according to our congresswoman’s website, packages aren’t due until December 1, so I assume NY will be announcing in December / January again .

My district also seemed lower this year. I would say that since the majority of the 2023 class was short-changed on freshman core classes like algebra and geometry (the glories of covid), along with the new option to opt out of standardized tests and still get into great colleges, it seems like extra work to get into an academy.

PA here.

My son interviewed via Zoom for Senator Toomey 10/24. (That application was due 9/2.)

He travels to Fort Indiantown Gap tomorrow to interview for Senator Casey. (Application was due 10/5.)

He was told his interview with Congresswoman Scanlon (PA-5) would be early December. (Application was due 11/1.)

Wow, 9/2 is an early deadline!
