If I don’t get my EA decision till December 23, does that mean I’m rejected?

Or deferred to RA. Listen, you're in until you're out, so I'd suggest finding something better to do than hanging around here. Go on a long run, sleep, hang out with friends or family, anything you won't be able to do in six months if you get in.

Does anybody know if most of the appointments have been awarded yet? Do just a select few get notified in the weeks and months before Dec 23rd and the rest on the last day? Or do chances go down if no appointment yet? Good luck to everyone.

Tom Petty appears to have been right: The waiting is the hardest part. @takedown34, I think only Objee could answer your question with accuracy. Looking at the 2025 and 2026 appointment threads I found that there was an increase of appointments between the second to last Friday, and the final Friday of the EA cycle. For 2025 there were 32 appointments listed as of 12/11 and 41 listed as of 12/23. (This isn't Friday to Friday, but Christmas landed on Friday that year.) For 2026 there were 25 appointments listed on 12/17 and 28 listed on 12/24. I don't put too much credence in the raw numbers, as it's largely dependent on who is lurking here and willing to post their appointment info, but it does at least show that there were non-rejections on the final day. Looking at past EA result posts from Objee, there are about 190 appointments tendered in EA, plus about 40 CGAS appointments tendered. So to me it looks like there's plenty of room for hope.

Thank you. We are anxiously waiting for our DD’s decision too.

Still waiting here for my DS! (Submitted right at the deadline)--Good luck everyone.

My understanding from the conference calls was that the deadline was a soft start of the reviews. From that you had 2 weeks for recommendations to trickle in before they really reviewed them.

There seems to be no unlocking on the forums of why the early ones were already appointed - perhaps they know and are willing the share. At least one person has posted as appointed but undecided and in one of the other sections (SAs) posted as accepted. Maybe there's something to that as well?

My guess is that for this week, there AOs are heads down working to get all the paperwork done. If the numbers hold from prior years, not counting the outright non-competitive, non-eligible, etc. there might be about 800 applications to notify: appoint, defer, send to CGAS or decline. (I'm sure the decisions have already been made). Anyone already accepted, are you seeing it in Bear's Den? I don't know how the behind the scenes works, but that's a lot of work as even those rejected get a personalized letter (if like AIM). I don't know if they AOs are able to call folks or a mass blast goes out to check Bear's Den. As nice as it'd be to hear before Friday, I don't expect anyone will hear anything until everyone (left) hears something. Not sure why Friday 12/23 is the deadline this year, last year it was the 22nd, which was a Wednesday. Those decisions aren't up to me.

If I recall correctly, as it gets nearer the deadline, decisions are posted in Bears Den first, and each AO has a long call list to get too. Bears Den after all is the official notification letter, the call is a courtesy. Decisions have to be posted to be official, so calls will be a lagging indicator simply due to volume as the deadline approaches.
