2023 Induction day

Another hint for you, search 🔍 ‘I day’ (or similar query) here on the forum for lots of discussion. From hotels, to restaurants, to how it’s gone in the past. Great Holiday reading. And congrats!

I see Induction day is June 29, 2023. Does anyone know what time candidates need to report on this day?
The arrivals are staggered to eliminate 1000+ in line at once. Ditto the suggestion to go browse for I-Day threads. They pop up in spring like mushrooms. What to wear, bring (you’ll be told), questions on the Permit To Report (“PTR,” detailed To Do list), what parents can do, etc.

Prior enlisted, foreign internationals and I think NAPSters report in earlier.

Here’s a link to last year’s Plebe Summer pages, which will be updated for your class starting in the spring. Much will be the same. Be sure to read all links and hamburger menu items. The PTR link from last year is there too, as well as a Parent Info book.

These are just for a heads-up, you will get your own “edition.”

Wonderful. I will definitely use those key words to search. Thank you so much.

Thank you kindly for the information. :)

The time to report is not the time that you show up at Gate 1! It's the time that you have to be in line at Alumni Hall. There will be a long line at Gate 1 and then it's about a 15 minute walk from there to Alumni Hall so get there early.

Yeah as stated above, if you think you allowed enough time, double it! Especially if walking on at Gate 1
It sounded like those that hopped on the Bus at Navy/Marine Corps Stadium had a little easier security check prior to getting on bus and getting dropped off at Alumni Hall. Gate 3 was NOT open.

Last yr We stayed at a place about a 15 min walk from Gate 1. DS report time was 9am we left at 8am, and as stated already, arrived at Gate 1 seeing the line wrap around the building🤢. As the mins passed I felt sick thinking OMG my son's 1st day at USNA and he is going to be late. 🤮Not sure why it took so long... We finally got through at 8:57am and faced the 10-15 minute walk from there to Alumni Hall.

I was freaking out inside, but didn't want DS to see. He stayed calm and when he arrived at Alumni Hall, he was reprimanded by a Marine, not for being late, but for his untucked polo shirt 😅

It seemed that the processing line at Alumni Hall was about 45 mins behind as DW and I could hear the Detailers yelling that anyone in line that is from 8:30am needs to move to the front right away!

Between the walk, the stress, and humidity, I was soaked with sweat 😓😅💦. After DS walked through the Alumni Hall doors I left to reshower and get dressed again.

You can drive on through Gate 8 to drop off your mid. From the USNA 2022 I-Day page located at https://www.usna.edu/PlebeSummer/iday.php

"All parents will be allowed to drive onto to the Naval Academy yard with their son or daughter's Permit to Report letter in order to drop off their midshipmen candidate."

Also from the same page with regard to no-parking:

"However, no vehicles will be permitted to park on the yard. The Permit to Report letter is only valid for June 30th, 2022."

For purposes of getting your DC to Alumni Hall, Gate 8 is the best choice. For getting yourself back on to the yard after the drop-off, not so much.

Correct. I was thinking the drive on and park... The drive & drop was a non-starter for DW :)

Was that in your child's portal? May be user error on my part (I am Army) but I only see the c/o 26 information on the USNA site.
This is a link you will get to know well - the USNA Public Calendars.

As stated above, candidates are given different reporting times, usually in half-hour increments from roughly 0600 - 0900. There is no rhyme or reason to your reporting time (for you, that is). IOW, it's not alphabetical or anything else obvious. You can show up early -- you'll be (figuratively) pulled into the building when you do. However, you just need to report on or before your assigned time.
