NROTC Scholarship Awarded

Our DS is in the same boat. He was congratulated in early November after his ISR interview and told his paperwork was sent down in late November. That click of the mouse can get really loud sometimes :) The portal status hasn't changed but for a few hours a few weeks ago --- still processing. Congrats to all that received an email.
Not sure if this helps or not, but a member of the forum here informed me that they reached back out to the recruiter and sent a screen capture from the netfocus website showing the package was still at CNRC. That apparently nudged the recruiter to check and realize they needed to resubmit the package. Unfortunately, the recruiters work under a completely different command structure and I don't have visibility on where a package os sitting until they launch it over to Naval Service Training Command.

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Our DS did email the CPO last week (eight weeks after his interview) to inquire about his status and to see if he needed to do anything else at this point. He responded that he contacted NSTC and said, "they told me that if the applicant is selected, they will contact the applicant directly." He did share in November that he sent the paperwork down. I will say that language did not seem as promising as the congratulations, and your parents should be so proud that the CO shared back in early November. I guess the only thing left to do is wait-and-see. I am unclear about the review time for ISR applicants in relation to the Board review process other than what you shared in an earlier post from late December. Are ISR candidates generally reviewed last?

Curious…how common is it for an ISR recommended candidate to NOT be awarded?

Our DD’s netfocus says it’s at NSTC. DD cannot get a response from the NTAG recruiter ( not unusual at all ) . After all the paperwork and interviews and congrats from the CO about the ISR , to whom do we ask concerning the scholarship status at this point ?

I would guess not common, after all, students selected for ISR are supposed to be top notch. I think it is terribly ironic that these kids that were selected for this distinction end up waiting the longest for confirmation. I saw in a thread somewhere that one board selectee had already completed his/her paperwork for NSI! @Outofmyelement my DD's portal says the same thing and has for quite some time.

I'll shoot a short note up to NSTC and try to see if they have many ISR applicants lined up in the queue. As to how each NTAG determines who receives an ISR, we don't have visibility on that at NROTC units nor NSTC. Sometimes the delay can simply be waiting on a teacher's recommendation or a guidance counselor, and sometimes it is just waiting on the NTAG to send the package forward. I don't believe NSTC holds the ISR packages until the end, but if I hear something differently, I will let folks know here.

@GWU PNS I've combed over threads searching for answers and apologize if this question has already been answered. DD NROTC application was submitted in early November however, due to a not so great scholarship coordinator the application process has been very convoluted-we have even reached out to his supervisor for assistance as this has been an ongoing battle. DD status went from "at NETC for final processing" to "at CNRC for additional processing." We have been asked to provide screenshots of her ACT scores even though they were submitted by ACT. Is it common for statuses to flip between NETC and CNRC?

It is not common although if there was an error with the package it can and would be sent from NETC back to CNRC (Commander Navy Recruiting Command). This might be one where you can shoot me nore information via PM once you have enough posts.

Thank you so much! I will be reaching out soon!

@Outofmyelement and @Newport122 If you don't mind me asking, when did your DD's portal status change to it is at NSTC? My DS's portal has said a decision has not been made since December. He was told his paperwork went down in November. He was told everything was in order before it was sent down. He, too, is an ISR candidate. @GWU PNS Thank you as always for providing additional insight into this process.
Thank you

You’re testing my memory….I believe it was around Christmastime. It has looked like this (attached) since then.

I believe DD’s package was received at NSTC and has said *no decision made* since about the second week of Dec … I guess that would’ve been about the time of the Dec Board . We knew she wasn’t in time for the Dec board .

My DS was also selected for ISR in early December. His portal has said same as yours above since mid December (at NSTC, all required, items have been processed, and no decision has been made).

Hoping his will get finalized at next weeks board.

Thanks for checking on the ISR packages GWU PNS.

ISR parents….our recruiter said the office chatter is tomorrow. Portal and emails should change about same time 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I do know that ISR packages are being looked at this week. And there may be some word put out to the NTAG's. But last year, the results still needed to be reviewed by our Admiral before being finalized. I do hope some word comes out tomorrow but it could be a bit longer if they need to get reviewed.

Hello, I missed last years December board by a couple days unfortunately. I received a broken looking email last week that I was missing some info. Does this mean that I wont be looked at during this January selection board? I've had the same status on my netfocus portal the entire time since all my paperwork was submitted.

Make sure the letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor is wet signed and that she sends your official HS transcript.

Yes, my coordinator forwarded that email to me and I forwarded the same email to my guidance counselor. She signed both my HS transcript and her LOR. Is it a good sign that they didn't reject my application and instead needed additional info? Also, is the NROTC board meeting this week? Thank you.

@GWU PNS What we would we do without you! Regarding the notification procedures with ISR, I am unclear. Does the CO call? Is the message in the portal (it's currently a decision has not been made)? Does DS get an email from GRTLKS? If DS was interviewed and congratulated by CO in early November and told all paperwork was sent down the week after - would DS more than likely be reviewed this week? Wow - I know it's a lot of questions, but you really are our Yoda! Thank you

Hmmmm, Yoda is an image that conjures up elderly and feeble. While true, I have decided I am more like the Mandelorian. 😁

So, based on what happened last year, when the ISR records are reviewed by the board, they go on the same briefing sheet for review by Naval Service Training Command N00 (fancy way of saying the Admiral). Depending on the preference of the NTAG, they may wish to make the call or they may just let the general email go through. I can promise the notification will happen. Everyone wants to deliver good news.

I know this week's board has several ISR packages but I don't know how many. I also know they are on track to finish on Thursday afternoon and if so, then the Admiral might see the results early next week.

And completely separate issue, but in February some people will get the dreaded email stating they did not make it this year. There is still the option to walk on as a College Programmer.

Hope that answered some of the questions.
