My son is going to be participating in "Spend the Night with the Corps" in a couple of weeks. He has an AFROTC scholarship and will be with theTalons (squadron 12, he is an engineer major). What can he expect? Thanks, -officer

Well, my daughter went to and Aggie Eagle weekend which is similar. They had exposure to what the Corps is about, advice on application and registration, a session for parents, workout with Fish Drill Team, etc. Very much the same as indicated in the info they send you. She had a blast and is really psyched about the corps (assuming she doesn't get the USNA appointment).

Okay, thank you. My son has already been accepted to A&M, but is really hoping for the USCGA.

Here's a tip, Officer: have your son bring some homemade goodies for the cadet he's paired with. I sent a box of chocolate chip cookies with my son when he did STNw/TC last fall. At first my son was like "this is dorky", but he said when he pulled the cookies out of his bag, his cadet and the roommate flipped and attacked them like starving beasts (which they probably were !). They told him that if he was in the Corps next year they guaranteed he'd start out with a ton of brownie points! :thumb:

One thing that I was told is different about Spend the Night with the Corps is that they get to go to classes with the cadet they are staying with. I recently went to JCAP, and it was an absolutely amazing experience.

Best of luck to you and yours.
