USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Well everyone - yesterday his journey to USNA came to an end. His plan B and plan C are both excellent - Plan B is Cornell on a 4 year NROTC scholarship that we had already put a deposit down on. He took it much better than his Mother and is excited about Cornell. His plan C, if something happens with that, is USCGA which he has the option of until May 1st. Thanks for all the posts and humor - especially the last two week!

DD just received TWE . On to GT for Aerospace Engineering and 4 yr NROTC scholarship . (She only applied to USNA and Nrotc ). She will be joining her second year AROTC sister at Ga Tech . DD got her nrotc NSI assignment yesterday, and she excited to get started as a Midshipman . She says she will reapply to USNA, but time will tell . Good luck to all remaining !
Yep, my DS actually interviewed with GT Aerospace professor and was awarded a NROTC - MO scholarship, but he was also awarded AFROTC and Tulane offered free room and board as well. So he's very excited to accept the AFROTC at Tulane! He has alot of friends going to GT and that is an awesome option! Congrats!

Honestly, Cornell is a better option IMHO. Have friends who's sons did various ROTC options at great schools by choice over an academy. Congrats!

Can’t believe I haven’t heard of her. What a voice.

Just listed to Hallelujah. Like one of the best I have heard.

She has a talented younger sister too.
When the the sisters do “The Prayer.” I think Lucy is about 19 now; I have been following her since she was 14 or so. Range, pitch, power, tone, breath control - and not a copycat.

Back to regular programming.

Congrats on Cornell!!!!

I think we had at least two TWEs (including my daughter, sadly) here in CO today. We know of two prior acceptances (athletic commits) and possibly one other turndown a few weeks ago. We know of one other applicant who was CPR before The Purge this morning but not sure of that candidates status this evening. I think there may be one other acceptance from a few weeks ago but that candidate was undecided last time I looked at that list.

Good luck to your candidate if they are still CPR!! 🤞🤩
Okay, I literally spit out my coffee this morning when you called yesterday The Purge! :lolatyou: That is exactly what I was thinking!
TWE yesterday, too, for my kiddo. Plan B it is!

Best of luck to all who are still CPR and Waitlisted and best of luck to all the TWEzers as they switch gears and move on to what I know will be a successful and fulfilling freshman year!

Welp, just got my denial email. My parents are like…mad at me now, for all the “mistakes” I made during the application process. I got into Georgia Tech so I’m satisfied with that, and I’m thinking about reapplying next year, but I really do not want to deal with my parents stressing me out through the whole, long process.
It was cool to go to Summer Seminar and experience midshipman life, I really really enjoyed it. I’m sure I’ll be fine with whatever I do in life, though. Good luck to everyone else with college, and congrats to everyone who got into USNA!

Keep your chin up, it isn't about your parents. My DD did a Foundation year and didn't make it in because she rolled her ankle on the run--missing it by few seconds. She's now wrapping up her sophomore year at her plan B school and is happier than a pig in $#!+... You do you and you'll go amazing places. Good luck!

Are you going to do NROTC there? Fine way to go if your ultimate goal is to commission and serve. You would also be eligible to apply for the ROTC nom, in case you decided to re-apply. Your DoDMERB exam is good for 2 years.

jdl232, sorry about your parents’ reaction - speaking as a Dad myself, forgive them - they’re human and disappointed, not in you, just the outcome. My unsolicited advice - just let it lie for now, when the emotion passes, talk with them about it if you want. I haven’t met anyone who likes rejection - adults who should know better have trouble with it.

This is your process and your life. The application journey is incredibly complex and every person applying, those that got in and those that didn’t, can second guess decisions along the way. As a father, my advice is simply to focus on your path and your journey. Be true to yourself and what you want to accomplish and you’ll simply never be disappointed. Your parents will come to that over time.

I'm sorry that your parents are reacting this way. As a mom, it's so hard to know where the line is and not cross it sometimes. I am proud of all you accomplished and wish you the very best at Georgia Tech! If you do decide to re-apply next year, make it your journey and not about what your parents say. With you being a college student through that cycle, maybe you can apply on your own and then share the news with them when you feel comfortable. I hope they come around and realized they have an amazing kid who is about to be an amazing adult!
