USAFA Waiting Thread C/O 2027

Just a word of encouragement for those going through this process and those who will in the future. I have a DS about to graduate from USAFAPS and his younger brother received the TWE last week. This news shattered his dream of attending with his brother but he had backup plans in place for just such an eventuality. He wrote to Team Blue to thank them for their assistance during the process as well as to ask for feedback on his application and within 48 hours he had a new email from Admissions stating that he was "an excellent candidate for direct entry to USAFA" and he was now on the waitlist. Persevere, stay on course and never give up. In my days as an operator the saying went, Improvise, Adapt and Overcome. I think all the parents suffering through this extremely stressful process along with their exceptional young adults should remember the Adapt and Overcome elements. There is always another option and one result is not always the final result. Your children have already proven themselves exceptional just by getting that far and they will remain so. Congratulations to all who get their appointment, keep fighting to all those who miss out this time and good luck to all who try for future spots at any of the SA's with the admirable goal of service to their country.

Cue the sound of 1800+ TWE holders emailing thank you notes to Team Blue looking for a promotion to the waitlist...

Out of curiosity, for those who were undecided, do they typically come back to update their status on this list? My understanding in reviewing several postings is that today was a deadline for many decisions. I, like many others, are still hopeful for a spot to open up for those on the waitlist. TIA for insight from the many of you who have been there and done that years previous.

Not really, also many do not even decline their appointment and do not show up on I-Day. It happens every cycle. But it does not really matter if they update the list or not, what it matters is if they communicated with admissions so they can offer the appointments to other candidates. Good luck on your wait!

The "Your Decision is Ready" envelope just appeared in my DS's portal a few minutes ago. Now I just need to wait for him to finish his AP exam, so he can open it.
Is this the first you've heard from admissions? Or were you on the waitlist?
(Congrats btw!!)

Yep, never intended that result but can absolutely see it happening. Well pointed out NeverSayNever.

DS was on FF waitlist. The “your decision envelope” disappeared yesterday. Midday, today, DS received FF scholarship. No email- just checked the USAFA portal and envelope was back with a new letter advising of the FF.

Does anyone know if he should restart to application process now or wait until he’s at NMMI for prep school? I’m thinking now but I’m a newbie at this!

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. Northwestern Prep said not to start applixation until arriving at school. Once you arrive, they let USAFA know and they shorten your new application.

My DS received his email today with a new letter advising him of the FF scholarship offer. He's choosing GMC.

Has anyone on the FF waitlist not heard anything? 😅 or just me…
Are we thinking that the last of the offers went out today?

I read they will get back to you by June 15th in the first letter we received. They are still waiting and sorting this out I guess.

Do you mean May 15th? That's what mine said.
Mine said June 15… DS applied to NMMI a month ago and sent the USAFA an email updating them that he had received some awards, his gpa had gone up, he applied to NMMI and planned to attend whether he received the ff or not (he would have been a self prep if not). He also talked about why the USAF is his dream, etc…
