🌟 Countdown to commissioning ‘23: ARE YOU READY??

You could shoot for the middle with dress grey slacks (less wrinkly khaki in photos), your dressiest USNA polo, lightest-weight navy sport coat.
Came close to this and can vouch for the balance of comfort and presentability. Wore light wool slacks, dressier polo shirt, summer-weight sport coat, smart leather oxfords. Felt just fine among all the stripes and stars in formal dress, and as the temperature and humidity rose, The photos looked great (if I may say so myself ☺️).

There are exactly 5 days, 22 hours, and 24 minutes and 00 seconds until we are commissioned as Ensigns :)
BZ! And please do this ol’ BattO a favor - permanently retire any shabby mid uniform stuff you’ve worn into the ground, including uniform shoes. You will be able to afford new items. Be brutal - look at all that stuff and think of how it might appear to a junior or senior in the Fleet.

Future Marines, I’m not talking to you - you would be mortified to not be totally squared away at all times, as part of your new culture.

I believe graduation was the first time our Midshipman’s Formal White’s were worn, on his roommate. Ours went Marines. Ironically, got to see them (his whites) again. They both winged from the same training squadron on the same day. They are both in California now, Camp Pendleton & San Diego. Amazing they’ve kept running into each other for the last eight years.

Glad to see his unused Navy stuff put to good use.

So .... where to park for the Blue Angels on Wednesday if you want to try to watch on the Yard?? I don't think we are allowed to park on the Yard, correct?

Last year, we just went into Eastport. This year, we're going to try to get on the Yard to see them.

Stadium and walk or bus!

You get your little guy the Blue Angeles flight suit in Mid Store?
I'm heading down as well, I hope to park in West Annapolis and walk in gate 8
Yard Access Vehicular gate access will be secured from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week. Military with CAC ID, faculty/staff/residents, contractors, and those with handicapped parking tags are the exception.

All specifics are here: https://www.usna.edu/CommissioningWeek/_files/documents/Printable_Comm_Week_SOE_2023.pdf

Yeah, he's got the suit, and has worn it quite a few times. Got nice and dirty when he was playing in the grass while we watched Herndon.

Hmmm, no car access is going to make it tricky to pick up the dude and all his crap he has to get out of Bancroft! We were hoping to do that on Friday after commencement. Not sure when he has to be out of his room and into the temporary place for his 1st Block stuff (YP cruise).

Guess we'll just do the stadium parking and bus it in as I already know parking sucks in DTA for this.

You Mid will have Yard access. He can get you on. We had no problems carpooling in with our guys.

Now, finding a parking place? That’s another story….but someone remaining in the car in a temp spot worked fine.

Hoping after the commencement it will be relaxed car access to swing over and pu what's not needed for Summer.

Cool thanks for the info

Commencement week is turning out to be waaaaaaay more stressful than I had hoped.
Well, you know, since this is just the practice run for next year's class... any suggestions on how to keep us 24 parents from stressing?

Or, do we just need to hope less?

Looks like gate vehicular access closes from 11 - 4 on Wednesday with the Blues flying around 1400.

Can you walk I'm through Gate 8 with DBIDS or still have to go through Gate 1 as a pedestrian??

You can walk through Gate 8.
Gate 8 is right next to Hospital Point (you go through the cemetary on the way) and Hospital Point is a fabulous spot to watch The Blues.
