NAPS 2024 Waitlist

Just read on another thread that a candidate not on the NAPS waitlist was given and accepted a NAPS appointment. My reading tea leaves and speculation are officially over. I either lack the ability to reason this process, or there is no reason to be made of this process. May all those that make it make the most of it, and those that don’t make the most of your situation!
Were they on the USNA waitlist?

Truly depressing! You have to be excited for them but it's a hard pill to swallow when you know that candidates are sitting on an actual waitlist and/or have LOAs! I must say that it's such a relief to finally know that DD's medical waiver was denied. She has moved on beautifully in just a few days and actually looks happy again! And, I was finally able to order swag! She didn't participate in the College Decision Day at school so we're going to throw her a surprise party and celebrate her great accomplishment! :)

From what I have read, it seems this lucky individual was on the cusp of both waitlists. There just weren't enough spots at the academy, but they were wanted badly enough to make the investment for NAPS. What an amazing opportunity!
Yep, the applicant had the qualifications to fit and fill a specific and needed slot, which confirms that the admissions process to a Service Academy is more than just meeting an enrollment numbers goal. I understand that it's hard to see someone jumping over those already on the WL, but different and specific Navy needs must be met ... not just numbers.

Yes! Absolutely! That's one of the biggest takeaways that I have had since being on this forum. All of the Academies are truly looking at the whole class and the whole individual. They are creating a balanced class and at the end of the day that may look different every year but they are looking at a lot of different factors.

Needs of the Navy = Needs of the Naval Academy

Question ~ DS graduated last night with a college preparatory diploma and his AA diploma. Found out today unofficial transcripts are ready at the CU. Is there a way he can update his application to add his senior accomplishments?

From what I have read, candidates cannot make changes to their application? At least for the current cycle.

Did the waitlist move at all? And if they were not to be selected, would they be notified?
All applicants are notified of their final status at some point. Though it may feel like it, they will not be left to dangle in the void forever. It is still May. There is a margin of time in June to finalize all decisions.

Admissions told me on the phone could go
To early July.

Forgot I was in NAPS waitlist thread, with a later start date than USNA Induction Day. Much more time available.

The annual tidal wave of “waiting and waiting” posts blurs together, though each post has its own individual well of frustration.

Priors report July 24th and Directs report July 25th. Lots of time to rack em and stack em. However, there is the requirement for Directs to be enlisted by July 1st, so I would imagine admissions takes that into account for Directs - give them enough time to fill out the paperwork, gather verification documents and make an appointment for enlistment at a Navy Recruitment office that will have an officer present for the Oath. Another option is for the enlistee to ask either an active or retired officer they know to administer the oath.

My DS is ready to be “picked up.” I know there was some early movement on here, and some waivers in the air. As I said previously I am no longer tea leaving….but I do know if they want him he is in an unrestricted category to be placed. It’s evident at this point he “does not meet the needs of the Navy” and maybe via some attrition that will change. He has quite a few updates he can add to his package…academic and medical….but I believe he won’t be able to until “next cycle” if HE chooses that route.
