If you received an offer and had to make your selection by January 17, 2010 does ROTC make any further contact with you? Is there any way you know they received your acceptance?

If you check your status on the Army ROTC status website, it should say that you have accepted the scholarship to your school, rather than you have been offered the scholarship to the school.

DoDMERB notice

If your online application status changes to "see DoDMERB website" what does this mean for the applicant?

In a nutschell, here is how the scholarship notification process seems to work:

1. The ROTC portal status updates to say 'check DODMERB'. This means CC has established that your are eligible for a scholarship.

2. A few days later one of two things happens: a) the ROTC portal updates to tell you which schools have offered a scholarship, or b) you receive an email indicating that none of your choice schools have scholarships left and you need to find another school to use your scholarship at.

3. About a week after 2a, a letter from CC command arrives. This indicates the type of scholarship you are awarded at each school. This is usually a 4-year, but can also be a 3-year scholarship. You will have about 30 days from (1) to accept the offer to one of the schools.

4. For about 2-weeks after (2), when you go to the DODMERB site you will not be able to register an account. It takes about 2 weeks for CC to transfer your information to the DODMERB folks. Once you can login to the account you can begin to fill in your medical profile.

5. About the same time as (4) a letter arrives from Concord, the medical contractor for DoD, that tells you where they have assigned you to go for your medical exams (eye, physical and hearing). You have 6 weeks to make complete these exams.

6. After your medical is done DoDMERB will process it. At this point you may be qualified, they may want more information, or you may be disqualifed and enter a waivier process. Or some combination. It gets very individual specific at this point.

Hope this helps outline the next steps.

Thanks mariner116. You seem to have the process down. I'll wait till 1st of next week then check the ROTC portal for any updates. I'll update the forums if I have any major differences in my process.

Thanks again!

Have you been checking your status all along and it just now changed? Or haven't you checked it in a while and you just now saw the DoDMERB message?

how long does a waiver process normally take? considering that i have all my paperwork and everything they will ask for before i go into my first physical?

Please take this question to a new thread in the DoDMERB forum. Mr. Mullen will be happy to get that dialogue going with you. You'll have to drop him an email first, though. His address is all over that forum. You can't miss it.

One thing that you should know is that the physical and the waivers are 2 different processes. The results of the physical will trigger (if necessary) a remedial afterwards. Contact Mr. Mullen for details.

I hadn't checked the site since around the end of January. I had been checking each week before that, but had stopped since I thought the next board would be towards the end of Feb. So this could've changed anytime this month.

Well it sounds like congratulations are in order - Congratulations! I believe those that saw their status change also received a scholarship offer letter around 2/6 (and need to send their acceptance back by 3/6.) Did you receive that?

I have not seen any letters to date. But, I've had a ongoing dialogue with the school's cadet recruitment office about some other issues and they have not mentioned this either.
I'll call and see what's up. Also, I've not been able to access that DoDMERB site (shows no app for my SSN). I wonder if this status just changes this week...I first noticed it Monday.

The DoDMERB process for my son was initiated by USMA in August 2009. Since all of that was taken care of in advance the medical approval came shortly after the awarded scholarship letter was returned. The medical was approved on 8FEB10. The Army website hasn't updated. It still refers to check the DoDMERB site but indicate the scholarship was awarded to the selected school.
I just though another letter would be forthcoming. So what happens next? Let's say you get notified by the school that you got in. What's next?
