So . . . my daughter's status changed to "offer extended" on 16 Feb. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea when she might expect hard copy verification of said offer???

Hmmm... we're wondering the same thing. When our MOC talked to our son last Tuesday, he said something about "Friday", and in the excitement son was not clear if he said paperwork would be arriving Friday, or being mailed Friday, or what. Nothing here yet in any case. Son is looking forward to actually holding the appointment letter in his hand to make sure it's real! :thumb:

WOWWW!!! I guess the waiting STILL continues even after you hear of your status?!! Maybe they are sending out mass mailings? I think I will just wait at the Post Office loading dock from now on instead of my mailbox...LOL!! Wouldn't that be a HOOT!! Hang in there, at least you know he is appointed...THAT is GREAT news thus far!!

Positive: I think they give the MOC's a few days "heads up" before they mail the blue folders. So, the "Friday" was likely the day the folder was to be mailed.

Congratulations!

jbowman: you could call your MOC and see if they have heard. Not all of them call the candidates with appointment news. Ours didn't, but KBH did call us. Escapes me totally that the MOC's don't pick up the phone the moment they hear and call the kids. A chance for a MOC to deliver good news! Maybe they are bogged down in your snowstorm! :) My oldest is in vet school at TAMU. (Husband and I are Ags as well!)

Your status changes on DoDMERB, not your CIS. At least, that's what happened for me! I'm also still waiting for my blue folder/a call from my MOC, even though my status changed on the 16th and I confirmed my appointment with my RD.

Today, daughter got a letter saying she is guaranteed an appointment if she finishes her medical stuff. (Waiver granted 17 Feb). They sent a copy of that to Rep Edwards, Sen Hutchison and Sen Cornyn.

Seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. But, we are encouraged! We have something in writing!

The 'thin' blue folder arrived! ...from MOC!
Son's Dodmerb admissions status changed to Offer Extended on 2/16
I kept checking dodmerb twice daily to make sure it didn't change back...
Rep Ted Poe's letter and certificate in House of Rep folder arrived today, 2/25 (dated 2/23).

USNA Blue Folder should be arriving soon!

Thanks for the encouragement, singaporemom! Did you get a phone call before?
:thumb::thumb::thumb:

No phone call.....so I was sleepless in Houston for the last week thinking the dodmerb status was wrong. I saw the envelope from Rep Poe and almost passed out!. The envelope was empty and I couldn't find my son..... He had the letter and certificate in his room, but his room was such a mess I couldn't find it.

Finally found my son..I asked, "Did something come from Congressman Poe?".

"Oh, ya. It's on my dresser. Is dinner ready?"

Thanks. Daughter's out of town playing softball. I'm hoping it will come before we go to watch her on Saturday. (So we can take it and see the unveiling!)

exciting times.

Let us know the status...I hope my sons USNA folder comes tomorrow. Then this butterfly in my stomach might calm down.

Nope, all mine! This kid is gonna drive me crazy!!!
he went upstairs to finish homework. My hisband and I celebrated:beer1:

triple q'd

Is it reasonable to assume that you are triple qualified for USNA or USCGA if you already received an appointment offer from USMMA?

I don't think so. Each has its own standards.

(I know a couple of guys who went to Kings Point. They loved it and have great careers.)

No, I would say that you could not make that assumption.

Triple Q'd is:
1. Medically (medical requirements can differ for the different academies, e.g. vision requirements. Also, one academy may grant you a waiver and another may not)
2. Physically (I do not know if the fitness test is exactly the same for all 5 academies), and
3. Scholastically (academics + ECAs + sports + leadership + recommendations + interview, etc.) - Some require an interview, others do not. Plus, I would assume that each of the different academies has their own way to calculate your total "score".

We heard yesterday that our son had an appointment with a call on our answering machinge from our Senator's office. I was so excited and crying that I jumped up and down and pressed the "delete" button! I was so horrified I didn't know what to do. Now I could not tape my son receiving the call! Had my husband call the senator's office and the secretary was nice enough to call back and leave the same message, but with a more excited voice! We were told that the packet would be mailed out from the USNA on March 2. The waiting never ends!
