Does anyone know the percent of out of state applicants admitted to NGCSU?

That, I can't tell you because I don't know. We are from Virginia and my son was accepted to NGCSU in August of '09 for the fall of '10. A big draw was that he will receive in state tuition for being part of the Corps of Cadets. :thumb: I looked around for some of your posts and I see you play football. Sorry to tell you that NGC doesn't have a football team. My son will have to learn how to like watching basketball and baseball. :shake:

haha, no worries, i wasn't planning on playing football in college anyway...Just out of curiosity do you know some of your sons stats (GPA, class rank etc)?

His gpa wasn't that high, 2.75 unweighted, but he did take a couple honors and one AP class before the grading scale was changed (now it's weighted!) They don't have class rankings at his high school. We visited the college in August and met with the recruiters and were really impressed by school and what they had to offer in terms of majors and also scholarship money. (We had just visited and met with recruiters at VMI and that experience was totally different!) Within 5 minutes of our meeting he was told verbally that he was admitted based on his unofficial transcript and resume. He has many sports, community service and travels. He was told all he needed to do was apply and he would receive his official acceptance letter. He did that as soon as he got home and received his letter within a week. We were also told that he was pretty much guaranteed a scholarship because they had 70 to give out and only 55 candidates applied the previous year.

I was accepted there but I was in-state so it wouldn't really help. I can tell you that they often have less people apply for scholarships than the ones they have available (that's what they said during my visit). It is also a great school. :thumb:

Good to hear that what you wrote backs up that they told us the same thing. I am starting to get nervous we haven't heard back regarding the scholarship, but I'm hoping it had to do with cadet command misplacing one document I kept faxing every month for the past 7 months!!!! Cadet command has finally replied that all documents are in and updated, so hopefully we'll hear back after next board.
