Is there any place that states the minimum requirements for the CFA? I was sent the link on the MMA site for CFA and what the max was and the "average" but it does not state minimums. Also, if the candidate site has "fail" is there any kind of re-do or is that a deal killer? He as already completed and passed the medical, has the nom, and completed the applicaiton process....are we still in the running????

Congrats, you are in the run!!

The CFA requirements are listed here http://www.usmma.edu/admissions/facts/CFA.htm

Candidates are allowed a re-do of any failed part. He/she will receive a notification with additional instructions. The missed part must be passed and results submitted before the deadline.

I believe you need to redo the complete CFA-not just the part that needs to be redone.

correct- i took the CFA at the West Point SLS program and got near the max on everything- except the basketball throw (most USELESS test) which i failed. retook the test after practicing and passed with flying colors. the whole thing does need to be redone though.

Actually, USMMA will let you redo just the failed sections for up to two sections. If you fail 3 then you have to redo the entire test. My daughter failed the shuttle run (due to a measuring error on the coach's part) and they just had her retake that part.

Just because one SA makes you redo the entire test does not mean all SA's have the same requirements.

This information is somewhat dated so don't beat me up too much if it isn't 100% accurate. Based on information we got from KP in 2006 these are some of the minimums. Basketball throw - 50ft. Push ups - 25. Pull ups - 5.

i stand corrected:wink: thanks for the info:thumb:

You will get a letter that tells you what you need to redo. My son had to redo the basketball throw. You can retake the CFA over and over, but who would want to. Good Luck and keep us posted.

I know for me personally, I threw 58' for the basketball throw and I passed. I had an LOA at the time but I don't think they would have passed me just because of that. I agree that the basketball throw is the most pointless part of the CFA, yet most of the time the hardest. Good luck!
