I am a fleet applicant from the Marine Corps and currently awaiting a decision from the admissions board. I am currently compiling a MECEP package to have as an alternate plan to gain a commission. Is there any other fleet applicants apart of this forum that have received an appointment so far? I am trying to ease the anticipation.
Thanks in advanced for any input and/or comments.

Very respectfully,

I haven't received an appointment but I have received a letter of acceptance into NAPS. I would say it took a month to receive my letter after mailing off my CO's rec and my SECNAV nomination. Just hang in there, you'll get it.

Just out of curiosity, what made you desire to attend USNA after being enlisted? Was it one of your options prior to enlistment? I say this because I have applied to USNA but am also interested in enlisting in the MC, then attending the Academy.

Also, typically, how long is one enlisted before they are able to apply?

I'm glad there's more enlisted guys on here besides me. I turned in all of my application materials about 2 weeks ago. I just checked my app and I received a SECNAV nom so I'm in the same waiting boat as you. GOOD LUCK!

I am happy to see the responses to my post. It really helps with the anticipation. It's awesome that you have been accepted into NAPS HM3ACE, I am just over the age limit for that so I am currently competing for a direct appointment, good job.
Good luck to you too OS3, I am glad that I chose to become an enlisted war fighter first. It has been quite the learning experience, and has definitely aided in my pursuit to a commission.
Katrina514, before I enlisted into the Marine Corps the Naval Academy was not an option. I was a completely different person then. I have always dreamed of becoming a Marine Corps aviator but the path I was on would not have led me there. The Marine Corps has given me the experience and the personality change that has brought me to this point and I am grateful. If you are given the chance now to attend such an outstanding institution as the Naval Academy then take it. It would be better now than later. You will definitely develop into the leader that you are destined to be. Attempting to submit an application to the Naval Academy while on active/reserve duty would be much more difficult. The application process is lengthened as an active duty Marine because of the fact that he/she typically has to "prove" him/her self to their chain of command before they are able to receive the recommendations that are required from an active duty applicant. It takes time, usually once one has gone through recruit training, Marine Combat Training/School of Infantry, and occupational training then one can begin to establish rapport with his/her permanent chain of command. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help.

Hey HM3, was it a month from when your stuff was registered in the system, or a month from when you sent it?

You guys check the DoDMERB website for status? It may help give you some insight into your status. Good Luck and thank you for your service!

JS3486, I think DODMERB only shows your medical status. or do you know something that I dont?

CTI3, it also lists admission status so if it says offer extended then that typically means you have been accepted and if is shows sub agency like APNAPS then you have been accepted to the NAPS. hope that helps. I think DoDMerb is the first to know. Check your status and let me know if you got in...

I responded in a little more detail via PM
