Will an appointment or denial show up on the USNA admissions site?

The only place online that shows son's USNA appointment offer is on the DoDMERB website (USNA Admission status: Offer Extended Date: Feb 25th )
Received phone call from Senator's office on Thursday and BFE arrived on Saturday (03/06), but there is still no change in his CIS on the USNA site.

I do not know if anything shows up once an appointee formally accepts the offer?
Son has not yet decided between USMA and USNA - will do so after his overnight visits in April.

Do any of you guys have a guess as to how much time passes in between the actual board and when it appears on DODMERB?

I'm only saying this because this is the USNA site, and I'm clearly poking fun, but if I could plant a seed of doubt about West Point in your son's mind, I'd say, "Imagine Moscow in winter...that's WP from November to April..."

I had to make the same choice 30 years ago, and my oldest son had the same choice four years ago. It's a tough one, and neither decision will be bad...

There's no forumula CT13NW.......your file will be reviewed and you will be assigned a Whole Candidate Score (WCS) aka Whole Person Score (WPS) which takes into account your academics, test scores, community service, leadership, recommendations, school strength, etc.

Then, there's the ten folks who have nominations from some MOC. .....the "slate." When all of these are complete, all the way complete, medical waivers, etc. then USNA will offer an appointment to one of those candidates. Your decision may wait for candidates X,Y and Z to learn if they have medical waivers. Or not. Maybe X,Y and Z are not as strong as your scores, so an offer will be made without waiting for all files to be complete.

The important thing here......you have absolutely no control over any of this. And there are dozens of variables involved. Once you have submitted your application and the strongest possible application, you must simply sit and wait as the process works. Hard, I know.

Do I recall that you are an enlisted candidate? So, I'm thinking a similar process may be happening, involving those with SECNAV noms. Some awaiting medical waivers, etc.

Confusing, frustrating, exhilerating, it is all of this and more!

The waiting is tough. I don't deny that, having lived through it last year.

New York's not that bad at all. We get snow from about MAYBE December to End of February. This year was the first bad year in awhile that we've had, but last year almost no snow. Than again WP is a little north of me, but not much difference. Depends on the year. And snow is fun sometimes. Plus look at USNA. They were snowed in for almost a week this year!

LOL - this winter was a complete anomaly. The winter comment was meant completely tongue in cheek. Either choice is a great one.

timeline

Daughter's "offer extended" was originally dated 16 Feb. Showed up on website 17 Feb.

She received a letter on 24 Feb stating an appointment was guaranteed if her medical waiver process was completed.

DoDMERB site said "medical waiver granted" on 17 Feb. Letter arrived stating that on 25 Feb.

Site revised to say "offer extended" on 25 Feb.

Big Fat Envelope arrived yesterday. Yay!:thumb:

Congrats to your daughter jbowman55!
Just to confirm: all your info. came from the DoDMERB site and not the USNA admissions site? Just checking because that is what the OP was asking about.
Do you also have no change in the CIS on the USNA site?

Son recvd BFE on Oct 22, accepted offer Feb 1, DoDmerb changed in October to "Offer Extended" and now indicates "offer accepted" but CIS has never changed since it showed his application was complete. I haven't heard CIS indicating an appointment for anyone yet.

Yes, all the info I quoted came from the DoDMERB site. No change on the USNA site.

I gave you all that info so you could see a timeline for the process. Your mileage may vary.

Good luck to all.

USNA84 thanks for the advice!

Son's first passion was USNA. It broadened to include USMA when he thought he wouldn't be granted a vision waiver for USNA (but didn't need one for USMA). Now he's "blessed" with a choice, and he feels he has great career options through both of them.
He's definitely leaning towards USNA, but is looking forward to his overnight visits before making a final decision (he loved USNA SS, but hasn't ever visited USMA).

We do live in Georgia - everything shuts down when we have 1-3 inches of snow - so your "Moscow" arguement may be a valid point!

If your status doesnt change from "in process" to "offer extended," and are still waiting, is that bad? I just wonder if the dodmerb website will tell of what's happening with my application.

The way the system works, It should. However, Ive heard about some people who were contacted about their appointment by other means and their DODMERB status never changed.
