Forbes names West Point #1 American college!

uhhh....what's hockey? that's not a real sport, is it? (....says the guy who grew up in rural Alabama and didn't see an ice skating rink until he was an adult!)

Forbes names West Point #1 American college!

Point already made, but "sports teams" encompass more than football! As the dad of a cadet who as a plebe made both the league finals for his Corp sport and the League Academic Honor Roll, I can't let this pass! Let's see, for the 2008-09 year: baseball: best ever finish...

    Couple of Questions

Good decision on the insoles - my son said it made a huge difference in the comfort of the low quarters.

    Help!!!!!

Yep - I think I've spent more money this year (plane tickets, hotel rooms, etc.) on the one with the "free" college education than the one I'm putting through UGA!

    overnight visit

This was also my son's experience. He received LOAs/appointments from USMA and USNA. He visited USMA and fell in love with the place (my words, not his). He returned even more convinced that it was the place for him. He visited Navy, came home, said that there was no comparison between the...

    Information about R-Day

chuckle...you said "why", not I! (for others: I'm "Dad3boys")

    Low quarters?

I definitely agree with Just a Mom - wait 'till you get your authorization letter, and get them at a military base. Sizes are very odd for these, for some reason, so you may have problems if you rely on ordering them online. As I recall, we went to the 2 bases in the Atlanta area, and neither...

    R Day - Who Attends

Congrats on the appointment! We took the 12 y.o. to R-Day, then didn't take him to A-day....and really regretted it when we had to leave him home bravely holding back tears about not getting to see his brother.....he was a sad puppy....

    Question

It may be up to the company, but my plebe son received a coffee maker for Christmas from his grandmother (along with single packs of coffee, individual sugar packets, and creamer), and is currently enjoying the ability to make coffee in his room.....

    Army v. Navy Game

I don't think it's land vs sea, per se, but it might enter the mind of the potential recruit that upon graduation, they can be "safer" on a boat (i.e. not Marine option) as opposed to sent in on ground forces. You really think that plays no part in recruiting? I would be inclined to disagree...
