    CFA "no risk" = pass?

You are typically only allowed a single attempt at the CFA. If you fail it at SLS you are automatically allowed a redo (no risk). That being said, if you fail any attempt at the CFA you can always request a retry from your MALO/Admissions (and cross your fingers). P.S. I believe that the...

    Chances of getting in

Good overall but you need to improve. You should work on improving SAT/ACT scores (my son took each 3 times) and continuing to improve grades and leadership roles. Are you going to Boy's State (a big +)? Look at this site for the scores and activities that earned admission for the class of...

    LOA

Great overall all scores... but remember, this is an Engineering based school. It wouldn't hurt to have better a better math score

    Ditto!

Dress code for parents during overnight visit

Nice jeans with a nice top is fine. It's the hopeful cadets who need to pay more attention.

    Boy's State

SLS acceptance shows that you've already achieved a certain level of performance... that's why many SLS attendees are accepted. SLS does little to add to that level. Boy's State adds to that level... if needed.

    Boy's State

Wow. That doesn't seem fair when comparing what is gained from each experience (my son did both). Remember... if it's listed on the 'Class entering profiles' it's probably pretty important. Ref... http://www.usma.edu/Class/2013/profile.asp

    Boy's State

Just remember... As much as you may want to attend SLS, attending Boys State counts much more towards admission.

    Thoughts on retaking SAT

You have good scores, though the math could be better. I doesn't hurt to retake them. It could hurt if you don't. You can retake as many times as you want. Your choice!

    Do you think..

At his point you will be on the National Waiting List (assuming that you are fully qualified in all three areas) consisting of hundreds of hopefuls such as you. Your position on that list is based on numbers... SAT/ACT scores, High School class standing/grades, leadership qualifications and...

    Boys State Questions

You apply through your local American Legion Post. My son was the only one to apply in our town so it was no problem at all for him. The Post pays for the program costs. In some towns it can be competitive. Find out early what you need to do to be competitive and make it happen!

    Boys State Questions

We're from PA. My son was told by the regional Field Force Rep that the SS was nice but doesn't add much to a candidate's background (it's more for the candidate to see what the school is like). Boy's State however is viewed as a wonderful leadership learning opportunity and is a big positive...
