My kids' field force types always reinforced getting the CFA done early in the admissions cycle, like in summer or early fall of senior year. No sense wasting time on everything else if you cannot pass it after 2 or 3 attempts. Not something anyone should wait until the last minute on.

Agree. We have grads from USNA, USCGA, & current USMA cadet. Current HS DS received LOA back in Oct. Met his RC at a local Academy Day here in upstate NY in November. Even showed him the paper LOA. We asked about real purpose and he said that he uses them to "motivate & inspire" top candidates...
