Reality isn't that different with other top tier schools. Oldest who is an off the charts math guy got deferred EA than rejected at MIT. Would it have been nicer for them to just reject him in December instead of waiting until March? Of course. He got a regular decision courtesy wait list...
My late father-in-law served with Queen Victoria's Own Madras Sappers & Miners in Burma during 1944/1945.
The colonial days when the Indian Army still had British officers.
To this day, I'm convinced that the script writers for "Coming to America" spent time in the 8th Wing barbershop in the early 80s. My grandfather was a professional featherweight boxer in NYC in the late 30s. Watched all kinds of old fights with him as a kid on black & white 8mm. Mr. Johnson...
Many MOC offices have a staffer who is responsible for the service academy nomination process. If you are that curious, you can always call that person to see if they will give you any color on the number of applicants for each service academy for say the past three years. Draw your own...

I'd say 50-60% of the nomination applicants that I see for my MOC have a STEM "hole" like this on their transcript.
Have a good explanation for what happened, lessons learned, and how you developed strategies to improve. And as @usna1985 said, do everything that you can to have As/high Bs for...
Your recollection is correct. The "buy back" price was at a steep discount. The Tailor Shop made some good vig on the resale of the used items.
There was also the ubiquitous "GOOB" sale of smaller ticket items. I still remember a 2/C from my Company buying old socks from me at my going out of...
No one is dismissing the obvious. What I thought the question pertained to is: "Is the network really willing to help a brother out". My personal sample is not typical (USNA non-grad and Wharton MBA), but in my 35+ years on Wall Street, I've seen a marked difference between the two in the...
