How will ROTC work with coronavirus and quarantine?

I respect the concern, but I think while my comment was confrontational, it didn't refer to anything partisan and were more just to point out a statistical fallacy and not a political one. I think we can all agree that we are looking forward to getting back to normal as soon as possible!

How will ROTC work with coronavirus and quarantine?

While I agree with your premise, your claims are completely wrong. The US has 1.15 million confirmed cases with roughly 66,000 deaths (which are speculated to be underreported either way). This comes out to around a 5% death rate of Americans. Also keep in mind that most states are only in the...

How will ROTC work with coronavirus and quarantine?

I'm skeptical whether or not schools will want to be back to normal until there is a proven method at fighting this. Remdesivir seems like an okay start and it seems like a few companies are claiming they could potentially have vaccines by September. However, if these fall through we will still...

    NSI Cancelled?

That's unfortunate this is happening. From what the upperclassmen in my unit said, NSI has produced night and day MIDN compared to previous classes that hadn't gone to NSI. For me personally, it was hard but fun in a lot of ways, and very cool to be at Great Lakes Naval Station. I hope that...

    Freshman year

Rising 3/C here, 4/C year in my unit is known to be the most stressful year because you are new to the military lifestyle and etiquette, but it isn't the hardest year. The commenter above me summarized the constants very well between universities, but Ill share my experience as a 4/C mid. I'm...

    NSI Cancelled?

It will be interesting to see how units handle indoctrinating freshman into NROTC now that NSI is cancelled. For my unit, I heard that first semester was supposed to be tougher on freshman but was easier for us since we already "paid our dues" so to speak at NSI and came in pretty well trained.

    Marksmanship or Track?

Why not both? Marksmanship won't help your application for the athletic portion but it would look good more as an "extracirricularish" activity. I would try doing both if possible.

    Qualified with Severe Peanut Allergy

You need a letter and test results. A letter without test results does not mean much because the doctor does not specialize in what makes someone fit for military service. If you only have the opinion of a doctor on your side and the biology of your son's allergy says another thing, you're...

Likelihood of Receiving 4 year Army ROTC scholarship

You have a strong profile but will need to pad it more with leadership and better pushup and situp scores.

    Qualified with Severe Peanut Allergy

I did not have any reactions throughout the OIT process. However, when I did get initially skin tested, I got a sizable hive (before OIT). I had my OIT and challenge completed before my exam, so my status went to remedial and then qualified, so I was never really DQ'ed to begin with. I would...

    Qualified with Severe Peanut Allergy

Nope. I am fully cleared to eat peanuts. The Reese's Take Five bars are my go-to sweet now. ROTC aside, it is awesome to not police my food for allergens anymore. One thing with this is immunotherapy does not work for everyone. I just happened to respond well but it won't be the case for everyone.

    NROTC NSI Cycles

Contact your POC in the unit or your class advisor. There shouldn't be any issue with them getting you in on a session that does not interfere with graduation. I was able to be pushed back to second cycle because I had to staff an important event at my job during first cycle.

How binding is an AFROTC scholarship?

I think there is something to be said about going in not sure of what route you want to pursue. I entered NROTC wanting to be a pilot, and I'm most likely leaving the program after my freshman year because I know that I would be better suited to pursuing a direct commission as a JAG (read my...

    Struggling Mid: Update

This is something that I have been wrestling with. Clearly it is better to go URL then lat transfer to JAG in terms of credibility, but is it the best way to become a JAG overall? My biggest concern is with the competitiveness of lat transferring vs. the competitiveness of being picked up after...

    NROTC instructor problem

Speaking from experience, NSI was not insanely intense in regards to physical training. We were worked hard, but nothing that wouldn't be expected from the Navy.
